    OP, if your firearm qualified as an "Assault Weapon" under California law two years ago and it wasn't a Registered Assault Weapon, you aren't going to get it back regardless of whether or not you actually get charged with a crime.

              I have hired an attorney and keep getting the slow walk from the court. My attorney says Fremont court doesnt normally return firearm.

                Some attorneys are awesome for your specific need... others stink....

                I had a simple issue- and I met with 2 different firms
                One firm said no problem, $1500 flat fee
                One firm said $10k retainer, should be $15-25k as a ballpark

                Criminal and gun law is a specialty...... I might suggest researching a new lawyer
