Traveling with a firearm

I'm heading to the Cayman Islands. Obviously my firearm will not be allowed in the caymans, but I'm laying over in Atlanta, and after the caymans, I'll be spending a few days in Atlanta. I have CCWs valid there and in the interest of always carrying whenever possible, I'd like to see if anyone has any ideas how I might responsibly have my gun in Atlanta. I've all but given up on the idea as impossible but I thought I'd throw it out to you guys to see if you had any ideas. Thanks.

WOW - that's a lot of work for a really small chance of needing it. I SUPPOSE if you knew someone in Atlanta, you could ship your gun there for them to hold until you get there and then fly home with it.

Otherwise, just live a few days without it.

Like I said, I resigned to going without it, I just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas that I hadn't thought of.

OP, I can't think of a way that wouldn't be more trouble, or cost, than it's worth. If it were me, I would make the trip without.

You could probably exit the airport and go to the nearest local FFL and store the gun there, then go back through security and get on your flight to the Caymans.

You would have to call around and see if storage services are offered. Certain locations seem to have enough need that FLLs offer the service.

But, it is likely not worth the hassle.

If you have local friends, your possibilities are better.

Ask your hotel about their policies regarding the Hotel safe. Perhaps your hotel will keep it locked in their safe until you return.

Rent a small storage unit near the airport for 1 month. Something 5x5 or smaller, and leave the case with the firearm locked in there. A place that has indoor lockers and decent security would be prefereable. Shouldn't cost you more than $30-$50 tops.

Nope. It ended up not being worth the effort and risk. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking something simple.
