I never got to like the Angeles range because of the Oakly guy, the high school kids as ROs, and them stealing your brass before it chilled down to ambient temperature.

This is just more reason not to go there.

That range is the first place I ever shot a gun, except for the rifle range at Boy Scout summer camp.

Blasting tin cans is fun as hell, glad they are keeping that part.

I do. Fill the plastic bottles with water tinted with food coloring.

2-5 are pretty common (YSA does wrist bands, for example).

#1 is a problem because so much crap comes in plastic bottles these days - milk jugs, soda/water/sports drinks, protein drinks etc. Only soda and soup come in tin cans i've much outgrown Chef Boyardee & excess sugar.
Oh well, what are you going to do?

There's quite a few items that come in tin cans -
Creamed Corn, corn, carrots, peas, string beans
Cranberry sauce
Milk
Beans - all sorts of beans.
Beets
Corned beef hash
Tuna
Tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, sliced tomatoes
RTE Chili or Chili and beans


Many more choices than "Chef Boyardee"

The date, April 1, may also have some bearing on the new rules or not.

The wrist bands are because losers go up there with 10 of their closest homies and only pay for one shooter. They found over 50 people (and I use that term loosely) that were shooting free in one day.
I for one, do not need 50 extra A Holes out there fighting for space that I and others actually have to pay for.

I even paid off my student loan.

If a test is going to decrease the chance of the guy next to me doing something stupid I'm all for it.

Going to miss plastic jugs on their tin can range. My kid always had fun there.

Yabbut, it almost certainly won't.

As with laws, the first question to be asked is What problem are you trying to solve? Is there really a significant safety problem at the range caused by people who are unfamiliar with firearms?

Unsafe firearms handling is usually down to negligence and irresponsible behavior, not ignorance.

I doubt the new testing will make the range any safer, and of course it will cause lots of hassles and bureaucratic overhead. But the insurance carriers will be happy (as far as insurance companies are concerned, more bureaucracy and paperwork is always better).

Wonder if range will issue range safety material and test is multiple languages like DMV. Haven't gone in years since moving to Nevada but remebering there was usually new shooters where English was limited. At the Clark county public range it was 10 minute video, reading and signing a waiver upon completion you got a lifetime certification.

For the last year or so, they've definitely made more of a point to keep your receipt with you. Wristbands are fine if it helps keep them open.
The trash thing is a constant battle. Added the 'remove the labels' requirement a few years ago. I guess plastic also tends to blow around. Sure will miss sending gallon jugs of water flying with a good 223 hit.

Kids love shooting cans, moving them slowly to pistols and trap, but cans are still fun. Except the newer soda cans are so thin now they blow over constantly. Soup for you!

I think it will in the sense that most likely that shooter will go to another range that doesn't require them to take a test.
