Large Cap Mag NV

I ended up having to buy a couple of large capacity mags while taking a class in NV. I'm leaving back to CA tonight, and am not interested in the risk of bringing them back home.

Short of chucking them into a trash can, any ideas on how I can divest myself of these mags before leaving tonight?

The instructor just said to disassemble them, but it seems that this is still in the legal gray area (at best), and to me, it's not worth the risk. Normally, I'd just give the mags to the guy, but in this case, it'd lead to a debate that I'm not interested in having. The only other folks in the class are also CA residents.

Permanantly block them to 10 rds yourself, or mail them to an FFL (with high cap mag permit) and pay them to block to 10.

It would be illegal for you to disassemble them and import them. Please don't listen to your instructor on this one. His info is several years out of date.

dissassemble and put block inside get an 8 buck harbor freigjht rivet gun and put long rivet thru baseplateb hole in both. you can go to home depot in molding section and cut small blocks from drop offs people leave at cut off table in aisle and saw is provided. Not rocket science just solving problems cheaply.

Donate them to the class so that others who come in from CA can use them for the class and then leave them behind for the next group. Trying to jump through hoops to block them on the day you intend to leave would be a PITA and not worth the hassle. While the class should have enough extra mags for their out-of-state students, it's a good start for helping those that follow...JMHO

trade them for ammo at a local gun shop before leaving

ammo is still legal to transport back into CA

if they are decent quality mags, Im sure the gun store can resell them to a NV resident.

Get a 2x4 from Home Depot and block them

Depending on the magazine, blocking it may not be very complicated. Scrounge around for some Rifle shell casings at the range. In my case, steel cases from 7.62X39 worked perfectly to block my CZ75 16 rounders to 10 rounds. Then pick up some gel superglue from Walmart and superglue the rifle case to the base plate inside the spring .

If the magazines are for a rifle, I imagine making the magblock would be more complicated as you need larger pieces.

In short, it got worked out. I got to know the instructor better, and he's going to store them for me til my next class/trip. I offered to loan them to anyone who might need em. Nice guy.
