Had this also happen to me. I tried contacting them over email to cancel the order and got no response. I had to PM them here to get an actual response and it was canceled soon there after.

Same deal here, ordered a hard-to-find upper only to have it cancelled the next day. Being an attorney who is extremely familiar with firearms law, I asked to speak to legal/risk management to try to understand the situation. They flat out refused. I then tried to ship to my place in Idaho, but they cancelled that one, too. I have been happy with their customer service for optics in the past, but as I promised them, I will never order a thing from Optics Planet again.

              Outofstock Planet strikes again!

I added this place to the Bozo's list a long time ago, I am glad everyone is doing the same. They can't even get their inventory straight, now they are making up laws for California residents.

Screw them and AR Maglock too while we are at it.

This happened with sportsman's guide with an ammo purchase... They tore their britches with me!!! They canceled my order saying they could not ship to my address... I have ammo coming to my home from numerous places and just had some delivered today mind you.

I called them up and asked what was up? They said their "lawyers" would not let them ship to this area or some BS. These stupid laws in CA makes things so hard for me... But for people to error on caution or just not play the game due to frivolous thresholds makes me mad! I cannot support them and I have G.A.S. really bad. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome)

I guess what really miffs me is that vendor states they can't ship due to law, which is BS. I keep telling them that it must be a company policy to not ship but they deny that's it.

I understand that some businesses are chilled by certain lawsuits brought by a rogue San Francisco DA's office. As b.s. as those suits may be, the products at issue admittedly did encroach in a legal grey-er area. But that's not the case here.

There are companies who do go out of their way to support gun owners in California. I will reward them by shopping with them so that they will be encouraged to continue to do so. I will not waste a dime with those who do not.

                      Very insightful thread.

I ordered a lot from Optics Planet (3-4 years ago), and never had any issues with anything I ordered.

                      It appears times have changed?

I will take due consideration of this circumstance before I consider ordering anything from them going forward.

Too bad; another previously useful vendor gone to the dark side.

                          WTF???

An upper is just a collection of parts arent they? There isnt any registered items as part of an upper. Im not understanding this.

I mean, if this was a COMPANY POLICY, that would be one thing. Fine, don't sell to Ca. More power to you. But they are quoting regulatory issues that DON'T EXIST.

That upper can be for a registered evil-gun.

Call your cc company and let them know you are going to make a purchase and ship it to the AZ address.

Call the customer service person back and Tell them that you cleared the purchase with the card company and there IS NO issue on their part.

OP........just add them to the ever growing list of vendors who refuse to deal with California gunners.

Don't waste your time with them.

Get a refund & move on.

                              Good luck.

Some companies won't sell semi-automatic firearm parts to Californians.

If I lived elsewhere and ran a gun parts company, I might do the same to avoid an arrest warrant when I violated a new law or lawsuit from a city like San Francisco that uses those in lieu of legislation.

Call them and see if that's the case, or you were bounced by an automatic system (like one restricting semi-automatic firearm sales) they didn't mean to apply to you. They may honor the sale price. If not, you'll know their policy and can buy elsewhere when appropriate.
