Input please - online order canceled by vendor

So was online Friday night and ordered an AR upper from a website that sounds something like; schnoptic plynut. Any who, I've been eyeing a few different uppers and all of a sudden one of the ones I've been looking out for went on sale. Upper was a PWS mk114mod2 piston and was listed for $1059. These are usually priced at around $1300, maybe as cheap $1250 so it was a pretty good price. The offer as made sweeter as there was an additional 10% off online coupon they are offering until 4/3/17 and included free shipping. Oh, almost forgot, purchase would also qualify for a mfg $150 gift certificate for use at primaryweaponsystems.com

Pretty sweet, right? Hell ya it was and I jumped on it and bought. $950 shipped!!!

Pretty stoked and spent Saturday online shopping for the rest of my build, mostly lowers parts and then to pws.com to figure out what I'm gonna get there!!!

Then, I get some freaking email from vendor this evening stating the order has been canceled due to "your order is subject to United States federal, state and/or local government laws and regulations regarding the domestic sale of restricted products. We apologize, but at this time we are not able to proceed with processing your order. In order to ensure that we comply with all applicable laws and regulations we are forced to cancel your order."

It further went on to say: "For detailed description of our U.S. Domestic Restricted Product Policy and Restrictions Information, please visit (website)....."

I afraid I must call BS on this. This item, specifically the part number is readily available at other vendors, is a compliant upper, non SBR,14.5" pinned barrel. Furthermore, I read the info on the link they provided and it covers export compliance. This confuses me because while the gun laws are somewhat jacked up in California, California is STILL part of the United States. Isn't it????

Adding to pile of dung is the fact the the email concludes by saying "Best regards, Risk Management Team" but the email address is from sales.com. I tried calling today but they closed.

And now, the kicker... the SAME item is now listed for $1270.

The whole thing smells like it was a pricing error but I'm totally thrown off with their excuse to cancel.

    Thoughts? Suggestions?

I feel your pain. That same place cancelled an order for a .22 LR upper for me last July, same form letter bogus reasoning. On to another vendor, never to return.

Sorry for your FUBAR. I have not shopped at Optisplanet for many years after similar treatment and never will shop there again. Like me, it looks like they have lost another customer for life.

Speak for yourself. I got $100 off a Weapon light and it was still honored. I would shop there but these type of stories still come up.

Not surprised. I stopped buying from Opticsplanet a couple of years back. They would list an item as "in stock" and then it would take 2 or 3 months to get here because they would drop ship it from China.
Then you would call them to ask "where is my product?" and they would lie to me over the phone.

Ok.. so I spoke to cust support agent this afternoon at vendor and they are saying order was canceled because they say that cant send ANY uppers into CA.

                    WTF???

An upper is just a collection of parts arent they? There isnt any registered items as part of an upper. Im not understanding this.

I mean, if this was a COMPANY POLICY, that would be one thing. Fine, don't sell to Ca. More power to you. But they are quoting regulatory issues that DON'T EXIST.

Have them ship it to a friend or family out of state. It's not a firearm so no straw purchase issues.

Looks like they didn't want to honor a price just like Midway did.

I did ask about shipping to Az where I have family but the cust serv agent has suggested that it would be unlikely as the billing address would be different for shiping address. She wasn't saying "no" just that she wasn't sure. It important for me to clarify that the the Cust Serv Agent was very nice and trying to be as helpful as possible.

She did suggest I reach out to their Risk Management Team and gave me contact info.for which I've already drafted an email asking for assistance.

I do wonder however, if the issue is a result of it being a 14.5" barrel with a pinned and welded muzzle break making it 16"???

Also, just curious... Can I even order an upper with a short barrel, say 11.5"?? Is it legal to order and own a short barrel (under 16") but yet not ever install it? Not that I am looking for ways to build an SBR, just trying to understand where the line is. Can you own but never install it onto lower?

I bought the exact same upper from Rainer Arms a couple of weeks ago. Mine was $1,300. But they shipped it. It is on my lower as I type this. And I have been forked over by a sponsor on this site, on some b.s. about not shipping to CA on a red dot that is as legal as anything (for the moment) in CA. They gave me some b.s excuse and I quit doing business with them. OP, fess up the money and get your shizz.

They canceled an A2 FH order on me, saying it was restricted. Doubt it was the price.
