PMAG won't stay in lower

I have an AR pistol and the pmag keeps falling out. Every time I mention it to someone in a gun store they seem baffled. I've seen a couple videos online with people showing they're having the same issue but I still haven't heard of any fixes. Anybody have any suggestions. I put a steel mag in and it seems to hold a little better but if I wiggle it enough I can pull it out pretty easily, I was hoping a steel mag would be the answer but I don't think it is. Oh and one more weird thing is that I don't have this issue with a regular 10 round mag it's only the 10/30 mags

Do you load on an open bolt? If not, do so.

I usually can only get 9 in anyways the 10th will never fit and yes I do load it with the bolt open then when I release the bolt the jolt makes the magazine fall out! Cz

sounds like your mag catch isnt going in deep enough also what type of catch is on the other side?

PMAGs are non-STANAG and do not work well in magazine well's cut for only STANAG spec magazines.

Had the same issue with 30-rd PMAGs in my M4 on my last deployment. I tried adjusting the mag catch/release to no avail. I just had to hit it hard to get it to fully lock in and finally just went back to metal GI mags. The military guys I was with were not allowed to use them at all.

I use 10-rd PMAGs here with my Sig 516 and my Colt LE M4 and they are fine.

I would look at who made the lower and the mag catch arm as well as are the magazines real PMAG and what generation. 2009 era PMAGs had "issues"

Thanks for all the responses guys. I've already tried to make adjustments to the BB but it made no difference. Tightened the mag catch as far as it would allow. It's a Karis arms lower receiver, probably not the best brand but I bought it in a rush to build a pistol before the year ended. I ordered the mags off a website called justicearms.com, maybe they are not legitimate pmags? Only issue with that is I've tried a metal mag which holds better but still seems to wiggle loose. I was hopeing someone on here had the same issues and was able to just switch the brand of magazine. I'll look more in to some steel mags. Right on everyone

Get a quality usgi mag catch. Most of the new mag catches are crappy Chinese cast parts and only hold the metal mags in. Order a genuine colt catch from Brownells and it'll fix your issue.

Yeah, sounds like you have out-of-spec parts. Or an out-of-spec lower.

Never heard of Karis. Jesticearms is legit though. As some have mentioned, try a different mag catch. Also, try loading a mag with the upper off the lower. If you're still having problems then, it's an out of spec lower.

One of my rifles, with a RifleGear lower, doesn't like P-mags either. I just use 10-round non-plugged metal mags and they work fine.
