If you were to get the smaller bag for your 16' you would probably need to store it diagonal. But smaller bags are more conspicuous

I can use my Wilson tennis bag if I brake down the rifle. Usually It's used for my AR 7.5" pistol.

My neighbors are nice, rich and friendly. I don't worry about that stuff here. Most are gun owners too. I don't even think about all the stuff I used to living back in LA.

Taylor guitar case (padded), paid $40 - no takedown required, free ship

I purchased it and it's an attractive case, well made, padded, and fits AR-15 with telescoping stock and 16" bbl fine. No need to separate upper from lower. Shipping was free.

This will avoid 'raising the eyebrows of your neighbors', especially if you live in a condo or apartment and you now feel or have felt 'uncomfortable' carrying your AR-15 in a rifle case to/from your vehicle. No need to separate lower from upper as with the Blackhawk Diversion Racquet case, and it also costs less.

Watch that guy's YT video below. Guitar case is featured at 8:52, it can be 'locked' by joining the two zippers together, but not designed to meet into a tiny overlapping hole, where you would actually slip in a small padlock. But one can secure them with a tiny padlock and it should be adequate to pass muster as a locked case not designed as a rifle case. That's assuming you are ever stopped for it in the first place, which is highly unlikely as it's a guitar case, and I think reasonable suspicion or PC to search would be all but non-existent. And, of course, you should be legal because it is indeed locked.

I was quite pleased with the purchase and have no regrets.

American labor isn't cheap. I'll pay the increased prices to get an American made product when I can.

Would you treat me to one of those since price apparently is inconsequential to you?

I have the regular one. It's hard to take particularly useful photos of the inside of a bag with my phone, but here goes nothing...

Here is a 16" barrel upper with a 15.5" handguard and a vg6 gamma. It lays straight across, but does poke into the side pocket space (as intended.) so if you want to pack those full you'd have to go diagonal with the upper. It comes in and out of the bag easily.

Here is a lower in the center compartment with a PRS on it, which is probably close to a worst case scenario. I've had two lowers with CTRs on them in there and it's tight, but you can do it. You could also just wrap a cloth around the second lower and just shove it in the side of the case where one of the uppers goes if you really wanted.

Here is the bag with the center pocket removed entirely with a 20" barreled upper in it as far as it'll go - ain't gonna happen. You could maybe get an 18" upper in there diagonally, but you'd probably be "printing" the side pockets, and it wouldn't come in and out easily.

Nope, sure wouldn't. Just because I'm willing to pay the price to have nice things for myself, doesn't mean that I'm willing to pay any price for someone I don't know to have it. If you want it, save some money if that's what you have to do and buy it yourself.

I go to work every day so that I can have the things I want. The financial situation that I've made for myself allows me to stand on my principles and buy American made goods most of the time. If you want me to buy you things with money that I've earned then you may want to look into the democrat party, if you haven't already.

Just because you can afford to pay an exorbitant price of $200 (my opinion) for goods does not mean that you have the privilege of stating or at least implying that others not so situated have an obligation to do the same... some can not afford or simply choose not to purchase at that price. Your patronizing, 'holier than thou' viewpoints are derogatory to others.

That's pretty strange. I don't see anywhere in my post where I insinuated that others should buy anything, for any reason. You wanted to go begging and I declined. I never said that if someone buys a bag that's made outside of our borders, they're beneath me. You tried to put those words in my mouth.

OP asked about options for discreetly carrying a rifle and I gave him an option that I have first hand experience with.

We are talking about apples n oranges. Bags that go for $40-$60 and you mention one that goes for $200, and throw in the American-made kicker. You and your little 'guilt' tripping where it bears no rational basis to what we've been discussing. That was a gratuitous comment that makes one think you might have a financial interest in the company.

I guess that you're 'better' than those who can not afford such a bag, right? Or more of a patriot?
