Not sure where you live but I've seen PD/SO/CHP in California decline to take all kinds of reports, including obvious crime reports, multiple times. Either way, if you bark up the tree long enough, you could probably get them to write something. Then, you would indeed have to follow up with the DA if you really wanted it filed and even then, probably not. Seems a decent strategy to push the issue though as it flags the business as the scene of a crime, a crime related to their business license and their state operating permits. Doubt the ATF would care, but you could shoot them a call too I suppose and tell them that their licensee is violating state law as part of his business, directly related to his license. CA DOJ doesn't give two bits, but a call wouldn't hurt, I agree.

It's a shame things like this are even an issue...

Especially when for those of us codgers that were around prior to 1990.

FFLs were on board for the DROS legislation, because they saw that PPTs are a sure fire way to funnel customers into their stores.

Then they found out they only got a measly $10 and have been anti PPT ever since.

A-hole FFLs should have been more careful of what they wished for.

IMHO, FFLs rely on 2A customers to stay in business. They should be 100% pro 2A. Not opportunistic dicks that try and nickle/dime customers. Or make extra-legal extraneous store policies that are detrimental to good customer relations.

Illegal PPT fees.....Refusal to allow customers to file Safe Affidavits and demand they buy unneeded locks.....And refusal to release on "Undetermined". Are three things that should be outed by CalGunners and any FFL that has such policy should be boycotted by law abiding customers.

I agree, and will add charging sales tax on the ppt to the list. No way, I'll never spend another dime in shops that screw customers for any of these things.

Or, if DOJ/local LE won't do anything, you could always take them to small claims court. Take a day off work, show the judge your receipt and the pc that proves you were over charged and you win.

These holier than thou FFL's are getting a little too big for their britches because either DOJ isn't doing anything, or those of us getting overcharged aren't making enough noise about it. Time for that to change.

As pacrat said, the FFL's asked for it. They need to either live with it, or join with us to do something about it (repeal it), not just ignore the law and stick it to the customer.

To the OP, have you tried calling the DOJ, they are very responsive based on my experience. I called them once on an FFL, right then and there they called the FFL and settled the issue. Within a few minutes, I got a call from the FFL with an apology and asking me how they can make me whole.
