Yes, but you were writing yours the same time I was writing mine. You just clicked your go button first

Difficult to do if you drive a pickup truck. And the first thing any thief will do after breaking in your car is pop the trunk to get the good stuff.

If you follow that link i provided, it leads to post from some years ago where you actually spell it all out quite clear. I just checked and regurgitated the PC that you had pointed out!

LOL yes, scrolled through some and saw I had contributed to almost identical threads. Didn't reread much of my own posts

Sort of nice that 21540 clarifies vehicle storage. Previously it was far too vague. But it does change some of the old discussions.

i use the hornady tripoint lock box with an upgraded security cable. If the gun has to go in the lockbox, I'll stop at one parking lot, secure the gun, then go to my destination.

You are correct. Those circumstances are having a CCW.

                    PC 25400 says:

                    and...

                    PC 25655 says:

So yeah, CCW can have the firearm anywhere in the vehicle.

But if you LEAVE the vehicle, PC 25140 now applies. Before 25140 leaving the gun in vehicle was a grey area. So putting a storage vault in the center console and storing the gun there would not be a violation of the law for a CCW holder regardless of weather they are in or out of the vehicle. Transportation rules would still apply for a non-CCW holder (unloaded and locked in a container) but the center console as the place for the vault might be questionable.
I was told the gun can be in the car but must be within reach for your control only. He specifically said not in the glove box. The issue is passenger safety.

Eh. I've been told that it was absolutely illegal regardless of circumstances by jimi jah, and I've been told that it's perfectly legal regardless of circumstances by ...others.

Neither are right. I would trust "I was told", no matter who toldja.

Personally, Gunvault Nano 3-wheel combination so I don't have to deal with keys.

I have a car so what I do is lock the cases to the frame in the back as some of the metal is exposed in the very back of the trunk or errrr front of the trunk right behind the seats. It locks throughs the cases top to bottom(through top part and bottom part) so that it cant be opened and is secured to the car via the open frame, and in my trunk it is VERY awkward to reach that far in as is. Then I wrap the CADOJ approved lock around the handles so when i remove it.... It is still a locked case.

Cases are locked and pretty much not accessible unless you have the key.

Now if people started cutting cables etc then they came prepared to break very thick cabling.........

Much of the time that would be ok, but for me it's easier to use a key than to find my glasses and get enough light to see the combo lock. Even more of a hassle because my driving glasses are in the car and normally not reading glasses. Sucks to get older

Okay... If you pick up my Gunvault and see the dials set to 9-4-1, how do you know that my combination is not 8-4-1, 0-4-1, 9-3-1, 9-5-1, 9-4-0, or 9-4-2?

You don't... but that can be dialed in by feel since I would know which wheel I last moved and which way
It's not unlike leaving the safe in the house set so you only need to dial the last number. Anyone making an attempt to open it is going to clear the first 3 numbers in their attempt.
