After it becomes an assault weapon on Jan 1st, carry restrictions will prevent you from transporting it upside down. You'll have to change the case handle to the other side.

precisely. I want the scope toward the handle side of the case to minimize the chance that if the case was set down hard, that the rifle could moved in the case and smash the optic into the bottom of the case. more important on soft cases, but I try to always orient my rifles with the grip down to take any impact versus the scope. why purposely put the scope on the bottom to take the impact?wow, many guys must have failed science class.
if the rifle is not secure in the case you really dont want the optic on the bottom.
the reason its seen in pictures is for the picture itself. most guys taking pictures of their weapons are interested in looks, not actual use.Jack
Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

its bad for the optic when the optic gets smashed into the side of the case with the weight of the rifle behind it. greater chance of that happening if the optic is on the hinge side of the case and it gets set down hard/dropped that way versus if the optic is on the handle side of the case.Jack

Only if the optic came in a box marked, "This Side Up" (assuming you don't mash it into the bottom of the case hard enough to deform it).Comment

I always set any optic mounted guns with the optics closest to the carry handle.
i don't want the weight of the gun sitting on the optics during transport especially in soft cases.
in my hard case, it doesn't matter since i cutout the foam to fit the gun and that won't shift the gun if i drop the case so no pressure on the optics.Originally posted by leelawBecause -ohmigosh- they can add their opinions, too?Originally posted by SoCalSig1911Preppers canceled my order this afternoon because I called them a disgrace... Why my featureless right side up scoped Daniel Defense V7. It's a good day when I can hit my own target and not the target in the lane next to me!
(true story about high magnification and shooting one lane to the right
