Carrying a rifle upside down

Got an AR before the deadline (phew..) and now shopping for a case.

In all the stock photos of cases I notice the rifles are oriented inside the case such that the top of the rifle (often with an optic) is toward the hinges of the case. So if you carry the case by the handle the rifle is upside down in the case.

Is this common?
Is this bad for the optic?
Or am I overthinking this...

It gets the rifle dizzy.

To un-dizzy the rifle place the butt on the ground and run circles around it with your forehead on the flash suppressor. (about a minute for each hour the gun spent upside down, it's science)

Probably just the way it fits in the case. Not all rifles fit in the same case the same way.

Is the receiver polymer or metal?

Just be sure the case does not open accidentally or the rifle might drop on carpet.

Having it upside down is supposed to calm down the rifle. Something to do with oil flow to the action, but I'm not sure. Just keep it that way and you won't have to worry about the rifle going all "assaulty" on you...

if the rifle is not secure in the case you really dont want the optic on the bottom.

the reason its seen in pictures is for the picture itself. most guys taking pictures of their weapons are interested in looks, not actual use.

Better figure it out. A wrongly situated rifle will cause severe damage.
I recommend weighing down the grip. Then it will always fall rightside up.

Just make sure when you set the case down at the range the muzzle isn't pointed slightly towards the next guy's lane.

Hard cases with tight foam will hold the rifle in place regardless of the case orientation. So, no undue force placed on the scope, even if the case is dropped from a few feet.

Some of the cheaper, thinner soft cases do not offer this level of protection, so one must be kinder to the rifle in this case.
