I have factory boxes in my metal gun cabinets. I have ammo cans in my job box.
In case of a fire, I'm trying to contain combustibles.

Your chest of drawers must be top notch, high quality to work under all that weight.

          Cans!

Your drawer will not wear out from the weight!

I would put a small desiccant pack in the ammo can.
          Some do, some don't.
          I figure it can't hurt.

storing up on the top shelf high & dry is better than on the ground close to moisture and humidity

storing inside GI ammo cans is even better, since it's sealed, better for long term storage.

Ammo cans are a little better and they are easily stackable. With that little dab of ammo I wouldn't worry, but if you have more ammo, then the cans are nice and easily portable if you have to grab and go.

I put a small trash bag in the can then I put in the ammo and a couple desicant packs. I twist the bag shut, close the can lid and use blue masking tape as a label. Probably overkill, but that's how I do it.

I got mine when Home Depot had a sale going on. Just keep checking.
Their holiday sale prices are still about $40 higher than I got mine for.

I get mine at the gun show, the most I have ever paid was $8, yes they are used, but if you check them out carefully you should be ok.
One of the guys I deal with gives me a discount if I buy in quantity, $5 for 30 cal and $7 for 50 cal so I always buy 10 or more.

I store my ammo in ammo cans to avoid moisture and humidity exposure. I've had brass ammo just sitting out exposed in boxes in front of a window for approximately 10 years and a few of the brass casing were starting to corrode. However it wasn't too bad, so I fired them at the range without any issues.

Yeah, especially with permits coming. Ammo cans are good for carrying bulk ammo. It doesn't really look like that much bulk. If you are worried, throw some desiccants into the drawer and you should be fine.
