    How much ammo

? How many rounds is a typical day at the range.

Indoor pistol? Me minimum 150 per cal

Outdoor pistol? Minimum 200 per cal

    Outdoor rifle? Minimum 500 (556) 50 to 100 (308)

I have some friends and family say I shoot to much.

I generally shoot 200 rounds per pistol/caliber whenever I visit the range.

Depends on what I am working on for the day. Sometimes I will do mag reloading drills where I load each mag with 2-4 rounds and practice reloading quickly. Sometimes I will do rapid fire drills with full mags. Sometimes I will shoot for long distance accuracy. Can go from 100-500 rounds per session.

              Pistol: 150 - 200
Rifle for zero and data: 40
Rifle for a match: whatever the course of fire is, usually 80+

I tend to shoot more rounds indoors as my range has 25yd 50yd and 100yd ranges with programmable carriers. Usually about 200 rounds (excluding 22) per visit and I go 6 times a month. Outdoor I shoot long range match grade so it becomes an economic decision. Usually 50 rounds per visit and I go twice a month. So at 1,300 rounds a month, these new ammo laws are going to be a real PIA. My New Years resolution: buy 2,000 rounds a month.

I carry in 300 rounds of .45 and always buy 50-100 rounds more at the range. I need to get something on wheels to carry my gear in soon. Awkward as hell with all the weight. A good reason to shoot my 9's more often.

Depends on how well I'm shooting or if I am alone or with others. Alone, shooting a bolt action scoped .308, I can sometimes shoot 20 rounds all day and be happy. With buddies, shooting cans and plastic bottles with .22lr, 300-500 rounds is not unusual. You won't find any plastic bottles or cans in my recycling bin anymore.

If you don't need to rebarrel by the end of the range day, you're not shooting enough.

For standard trips to keep the edge sharp, 25 per centerfire rifle, 30 per handgun, 50 per rimfire firearm. For me, more than that is making noise and wasting lead. I usually go to the range 2x a month.

The question is more like, how much are you saving?
