    Hello Ladies and Germs!!!

Well here's a thorn in your side for the SIG P556 SWAT PISTOL owners. I do own one and I just received the ARMAGLOCK kit and guess what???? It will not fit in any way possible and here's why without getting into specific measurements.

    1) The Sig P556 Swat Pistol is no where near AR-15 Mil Spec standards. The whole firearm is proprietary.
    2) Factory rear take down pin is much larger in diameter, matter of fact that pin is even bigger diameter than my LWRC AR-10.
    3) The magazine catch plate has an extended drop down piece therefore a standard AR-15 magazine catch plate will not fit, which is what the ARMAGLOCK replicates.
    4) The upper receiver actually sits higher on the lower receiver so the ARMAGLOCK offset mag release button actually comes up short and still makes contact with the lower receiver.

All in all and in the end...... the ARMAGLOCK is an epic fail for the SIG P556 SWAT PISTOL.

Guess I'm back to the inter web for another device to FIX my magazine as I refuse to register as an assault weapon.

Either a Franklin DFM, or modify your magazine to serve the same function.

        Sig P556 Mag Release

Hvacins, the Patriot Mag Release (BB Reloaded) works fine in my Sig P556 classic.

bitong2, I'll have to order the Patriot Mag Release and give it a try.... out of curiosity isn't your P556 Classic plagued with the proprietary issues I had a problem with as listed above? I know this sounds like a rhetorical question but my Swat Pistol is nowhere dimensionally Mil-Spec and that's what these new "Fixed Mag Release" devices are tuned to replace. I'm kicking myself now for not taking pics to show you how far off the ARMAGLOCK really is when compared to the Sig's P556 Swat Pistol configuration. I will also look into the Franklin DFM but my concern is in regards to the Magazine Catch plate as Swat Pistol does not utilize a standard Mil-Spec plate. The sig plate actually has a small drop down offset at the mag catch location. What A PITA.... so effen hate brown and the rest of our communist politicians... ugh

If the PMR and the DFM do not work, then your last resort option to make it a "fixed magazine" is to insert a 10 round magazine and then weld/epoxy/rivet the magazine into the magazine well.

Now if it comes down to that final method I'd really be pissed off.... bad enough we pay a lot of hard earned money to acquire our firearms LEGALLY at time of purchase and then have the big chief come back later and tell you your once legal firearm is no longer legal so you can either be buried with it, permanently alter the firearm in a way the manufacturer never intended, turn it in for melt down, or register it as an AW never to be sold or transferred without jumping through more hoops set on fire. Surely there are more options but why keep beating it to death.... point being, I legally purchased it back in the day and it should stay that way period. Sorry for the rant, I know it's a broken record these days... just frustrated as hell....

Worst comes to worst, I cut my personal losses and intrafamily transfer to my dad in New Mexico. Now that's one hell of a gift to him!!!! Now I wish I had just purchased a true mil-spec AR-15 pistol instead of this proprietary PITA....

                Sig P556 Mag Release

hcvacins, I actually purchased the ARMAGLOCK myself to see if it would function as advertised with the Sig P556. We now both know that it doesn't.
That devise is now installed in my Mil-Spec AR 15 and it works just fine. The Sig P556 is probably Mil-Spec as well (Germany?) but not to AR 15 specs which these devices were designed for, as you mentioned. These are just two different guns.
Since the Patriot Magazine Release( PMR) device's BB arm goes straight up, it can reach the P556 upper and is able to function as it should. A small set screw attached to the top of the BB body makes this happen for the P556.
My next mod would be to replace the take down and pivot pins as the TDP is ridiculously tight in mine making magazine changes difficult. I also still have the original PP installed which takes too long to remove and my pose as
a major inconvenience in clearing double feeds or what nots.
I have ordered the original Swiss pins from apexgunparts.com. Hope they work for me.
