This guy melted down Sodium and Potassium and filled some hollow point .45 bullets. If you don't know, both sodium and potassium are reactive with water. So they catch fire and even explode on contact. It's pretty cool to watch what it does to a watermelon haha!

Just don't fill bullets with sodium chloride, or else you'll be in possession of a salt weapon.

is he even wearing eye protection?
what is he saying at the end? around 4:43 bullets are light and not enough KE? (they are just standard HP .45, righ?) cannot even eject round? huh, wth?"when I hear 'meat is murder' (sic) I think murder is delicious" - Stephen Colbert interview with Morrisey 09.10.12

Why do you care if he's wearing eye protection? They're his eyes, not yours.
They are light because he took the lead core out of jacketed lead hollow points and filled the jacket with Na, K, or an Na-K mixture, all of which are less dense than lead.Calguns.net, where everyone responding to your post is a Navy Force Delta Recon 6 Sniperator.Comment

Why don't that actually add that to home defense ammo? Wouldn't the same reaction happen when the bullet enters the internals of an animal? We are composed of over 70% water.Comment

There are some bullets out there with mercury in them.
But in general, ammo with potassium or sodium would be too dangerous to store and use. One drop of moisture from the air or your sweat or whatever... and you now have a fire/explosion. Also, I'm sure there are some people out there who would get all up in arms over rounds like this being inhumane.Comment

You don't being on fire while carrying a ccw gun?..lolThere are some bullets out there with mercury in them.

I also would like to see what would happen if they made a hollow core that fully enclosed bullet filled with potassium or sodium. Also liquid mercury filled rounds would be interesting to see the impact.
