I keep seeing guns, Scars in particular reaching asinine prices. But what sellers dont realize is come December, its a buyers market. The 21st is the last day to start dros, and after that they are stuck with that rifle, unless selling out of state, which has little to no inflation as it is.
Some other useful information is the upper on a scar is serialized, so anyone can buy the upper assembly from out of state, and have it shipped in to FFL, and have lower and stock shipped to their residence. Install a bullet button and pin stock and anyone can buy one for 3800 at the highest.

Im writing this because we are a community in a losing battle with the state, and we shouldnt be taking advantage of eachother asking $6-7k on a STOCK scar with a msrp of $2899.

I hope everyone waits and just buys what they can that last week, I promise you, the sellers will be motivated if they truly want to sell.

Only firearms transferred into your name prior to 1/1/17 can be registered as assault weapons. Getting a stripped receiver or a complete rifle next year is fine as long as you want it featureless. Slapping a button on a receiver shipped to you next year will only get you a felony.

You are correct, or until the ban is lifted.
The messed up thing is once registered, the gun is always registered regardless if they lift the Ban. What baffles me is featureless allows you to use standard mag release, so no bullet button Needed.
So that raises another question.

Oh the Scar is a great gun, I have 4, paid 2700-2900 (fde) for each of them.

It makes sense, and I agree but i see some people asking 6500-8000. If I sold someone a stock sar for that Id feel like I sold Billy the blind kid Petey.

Plus tax, FFL transfer fee, dros fee bullet button/stock lock you'll need to add another $400/500. That will put you at $4400 or so and it's used.

You don't pay taxes on used guns. Even ones shipped into the state. If you have been paying that, youve been getting ripped off.

Wrong. FFL/Dealers must charge the CA state user's tax on guns shipped into the state. This has long been discussed and is within the law. Proven and confirmed.

PPTs typically won't garner sale tax as the matter is conducted in private, but consignment guns handled like a PPT - will.
