Except scars are and have been out of stock everywhere nationally for months. This has been discussed a bit here, but it's not just a CA issue. FN has been busy dealing with military contract orders so the demand has increased everywhere. Furthermore, scar uppers are even more rare since they aren't sold that way by FN. It should slow down a bit nationally with the election results, but I don't see scar prices coming down in December unless FN starts shipping again. Most of the sellers are just trying to take advantage of large markups, but will choose to keep it if they don't get what they are asking. I think the scar isn't really a strong example for your argument.

You're assuming the sellers are extremely motivated to sell. I have a SCAR I put a lot of time and money into. If someone wants to pay me significantly more than I have into it, I may consider selling it as I have other interests as well, but if not, I am more than happy to keep it. I think this goes for the majority of people you see asking $5K+ for their SCARs...if you want it that much more than me, then fine, pay the premium and enjoy...if not, I'll be the guy at the range enjoying his SCAR post 1/1/17. Just my 2 cents

Good point about the 21st, going to be interesting to watch this unfold.
Maybe I should put mine up for 10k???
Nah, I have no desire to sell it.

You're correct about serialized uppers shippedd to FFL and lower/stock directly to you then pin stock/maglock before assembly.
The thing is the few SCAR 17's I've found on GB that aren't marked up in price wont ship to CA. So it's a lot easier said than done, not impossible but you'll be hard pressed to get one brand new, shipped, bullet button/stock block, ffl transfer, dros fee, and sales tax for $3,800 or less.
I've thought about this market turning to a "buyers" market very soon. Here's my take on all these price jacked SACRS, some of these guys are already out of state just trying to make a quick couple thousand $$$. If they don't sell they will just keep them or sell later at normal price out of state.
As for those local CA residents selling jacked up SCARS same deal just putting it out there for crazy high if they get a buyer it's all good, if not then they will most likely keep them. I seriously doubt to see SCARS going for sub 4k, I hope i'm wrong.

Here's one for about $3900 shipped to CA. I think the prices will continue to fall. I also think there will be middle men doing featureless SACF rifles next year. The only reason to buy now is if you are drinking the vol-reg aw kool-aid

But not yet the asinine price at which I am willing to sell.

                        Please get to $10,000 .

Plus tax, FFL transfer fee, dros fee bullet button/stock lock you'll need to add another $400/500. That will put you at $4400 or so and it's used.
