need input on a colt 1911 please

Hello, I was just at my local gun shop and they have a colt 1911 on consignment. I have no idea if it's worth buying or not. It has some pitting and looks like its had some work done but its priced at 950. I have no idea how to get any info on it. The guy at the shop does not know much about it other than some guy brought it in after it had been in his dad's safe for many years. I'm not sure if this is the forum to get help on such things and if not can someone please point me in the right direction? Thank you

Need way more info, series 70/80, pre series 70, gold cup? There are way to many varieties to assume any type of value.

We need to know more about the gun. I can buy Colt's all day long for $950. Some are worth more, some are worth less. I can buy some models brand-new for less than $950

Not a Colt. Missing inspector cartouches on the frame at the trigger guard left side. So many fake Colts out there....

Real Colt slide on a Not A Colt frame is not a Colt. And the sticker on the box looks like a home print job.

~$400 gun, tops. And I still wouldn't buy it for that.
