Outside of this forum, you'd be surprised how many casual shooters haven't a flipping idea what's going on. After Prop 63 passes THEN the reality will hit them. A lot of them are going to open their wallets up and start buying at that point.

Hope for the best, plan for the worst. I've been making purchases all summer.
I've never seen an American flag burned at a gun show.

That's quite a climb down from "she's gonna win" to "she'll win all 55 CA electoral votes."

Will she be able to steal the others? Probably not so who knows how the game will go?

I panicked at the beginning of the year, got the guns I wanted, the ammo I think I will need for a year or 2 and way more powder/primers/projectiles than I ever thought I would own. All that is left for me to do is extend the house alarm to the garage since I now have a lot of money in there in the form of reloading components.

              There absolutely will be.

I'm doing my best to find an RDB from a seller willing to make it featureless before shipping... but if I can't find one in the next 2 weeks I'll be buying one anyway and having it sent to Audiophil (not cheap but better than not getting one). I think I have a better chance of finding a PTR post-election than an RDB.

Not a climb-down at all. In fact, she probably will win, your man is ensuring that more every time he opens his mouth. But my point is, it doesn't matter how you or anyone else in California votes: all the state's Electoral College votes are going to Clinton.

Regardless of the outcome of this election, CALIFORNIA is going to experience a panic, shortages, and increased prices as the new laws take effect. Buy what you want for the next several years NOW. I can ride out ten years to retirement on what I have on hand.

If HRC wins the election, the nation will be joining the panic. If Trump wins, but damages the down-ticket enough to shift the House, it may also panic the rest of the country.

A 32% increase in the number of background checks during the first quarter of 2016 over the same period in 2015 screams "YES! PANIC BUY NOW!!!"

Actually, increases in background checks for 17 fiscal quarters in a row doesn't say "panic buy" as much as it says "distrust of the government". But buy one of everything anyway, and two of stuff you like.

Just came back from two gun stores and an indoor range that sells guns in Reno/Sparks. There sure isn't any panic going on here, these places were dead.

The problem with panic is it's so hard to get the timing just right. Usually it's too soon, or too late.

Just to point one thing out... Nate Silver gave Trump a 5% chance of winning the nomination. He's usually either right on or way off.

Election will be close, I think. But we will see.

Don't feel too bad. Up until 2012 I didn't even know it was legal to own an AR 15...

A lot of gun owners have no idea what is about to hit them. I don't know when they will wake up, but it will get ugly in California.

This. I keep what I need, and then some, on hand. If I go out and shoot a thousand rounds, I buy at least double or triple that amount as a replacement.

California is a winner take all state to whomever wins a simple majority of the popular vote in the state. Clinton will get all 55 CA electoral votes, even if she dies before the election. With "winner take all" systems in most states, the election comes down to the few significant states where the outcome is in question (e.g., Florida, Ohio, etc.). Based on current state-by-state polls, Clinton has about 255 of the needed 270 electoral votes locked up from the populous coastal states and upper Midwest states. Trump essentially needs to win every state where the vote is close. In the absence of some really bad news about Clinton that actually gets reported (e.g., she kills Kim Kardashian), she wins by a large margin before the polls in California close and the panic buying begins.
