Just paint over them if it bugs ya. Make sure you use black paint, it will make you more tactical.

"Night sights only identify your sights."

This short and sweet review in Amazon convinced me to go Ameriglo Glock Defoor Tactical Sets.
            It's just great common sense!

Night sights are over-hyped & under thought. These plain black Defoor sights have the perfect sight picture for precision accuracy and fast target aquistition. The thin (.115") front blade it awesome. Put a good rail mounted light if you're using for home defense. Night sights only identify your sights.

I know the perfect solution... get glow-in-the-dark stickers, cut them to look like a 3 dot site, and stick them all over your house. Now, the perp won't know which sight picture is the real one. He'll start overthinking things, and soon you both will be standing there just thinking. Eventually he'll get sleepy from all the thinking and leave.

But if all I know is that I heard a "bump in he night" and the perp ends up behind or beside me without my knowledge, the bright new sights would give away my position putting the perp at an advantage. Any thoughts? Should I black them out? I've shot 1911's for over 20 years and the muscle memory is there. So in a stressfire situation the sights wouldn't really come into play...
If the "perp" has managed to use his stealth due to mastery if ninjitsu to get close enough to you that they're behind or next to you when you've got your gun pointed in another direction...

It's not the sights that caused this scenario to occur, and your sights aren't assisting your attacker in doing anything they want to you.

If an intruder ends up behind you or beside you, they would have the upper hand and seeing your night sights would be the least of your worries. A motion sensing alarm would be beneficial for your home.

Muscle memory at a static range is much different when your are awoken or situationally unprepared.

My LE duty weapon has black rears and front night sight if that helps you.
A good flashlight is important too.

Weapon light or handheld light and some training/practice. End of thread.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

                        Get the "Clapper".

ps Your head/body will be blocking the view of your night-sights from behind you.

How about a TACTICAL backpack with a motion sensor on the back to keep ninjas off your butt?

                          This is fun.

You should almost NEVER be shooting at something you can't identify!

And to identify something or someone, you need to be able to SEE. And that requires LIGHT.

To prevent this scenario you should clear you house room by room in the prone position crawling about the house. Criminals are not trained to look for victims down there. Extra points for use of ghillie suit that matches your interior decor.
