Somehow, only 200,000 signatures were put on paper. I am beyond disgusted. We fell 150k short. I drove 20+ people to turners and got them to sign up. How could this possibly happen?

Because unfortunately the majority of Californians dont give a **** enough to stay current with laws or efforts to fight against laws. Previous experience working in a gun shop showed me that the majority of people only give a **** about their own stupid collection.

Now I don't feel so bad for not signing, we weren't even close.

I'm surprised it was so low, I always saw people signing them and I also encouraged everyone I knew to go sign them.

The bottleneck was low # of volunteers/signing locations and getting the word out. I was getting signatures until the second to last day before the filing deadline, and there were still people who didn't have a clue about the new laws.

200,000 in 8 weeks with ZERO cash/infrastructure actually isn't bad.
If we could actually organize, generate money and have an ongoing drive to unite California gun owners we'd be on the right track.

Why was there no cash? Why didn't calguns set up tables? Why didn't the NRA help?

How many of those are active versus non active?

Is the count officially 200K? I'm surprised there are that many. Like Operator said, most gunners only care about their own collections, which doesn't make sense anyway because these laws affect ALL OF US...

I wonder the same thing why the NRA didn't take charge and organize this.

It's worse than that. Even when they know what's going on, they're too damned lazy to do anything about it. We actually had guys asking us to bring the petitions to the next MC meeting so they could sign them only to have them say "oh well" when told the next meeting was well after their deadline.

And did they bestir themselves to go to their LGS and sign the petitions? Did they educate their neighbors and friends?

NO. They all sat back thinking someone else was going to carry the freight for them and now we'll have to listen to these lazy no goods moaning and screaming "Where was the NRA?" as one right after another gets stripped away.

The gun owners in this state sometimes make me puke.

                              It's called apathy.
