I quit going. Most pistols from the dealers were $50 more than at their store. Some other overpriced ammo, firearms. Plenty of flea market crap and usually some jerky. Also jewelry.

I live 20 minutes away and will not waste my gas or effort.

Very small show in one fair building in the past.

Stay home. Go to the range. Go deer/bear hunting. Watch the football games. All better choices than that show.

Dust Bowl is usually busy, so they must be good. Check out Alquist Arms while you're in town, mind you they usually have a wait.
            This is an accurate assessment.

I go to GS's to get powder and primers to beat the hazmat fees. Any powder/primers seen last time someone was there??

                Turlockians-

My brother lives there and wants to get an AR or at least a stripped lower locally. Any suggestions where? He's an avid hunter and fisherman but doesn't own a semi-auto and I've been telling him it's now or never. I'll be visiting him in a few weeks and we plan to go shooting.

I hear Alquist Arms is alright, but I've never shopped there myself. He could also head up to Manteca, Elite Arms usually has a pretty good selection of stripped lowers and rifle parts. A little further is Tracy Rifle and Pistol, which is cool because they have an indoor range.

I liked the Turlock show, and would attend once in a while whilst living in Merced. Yeah, maybe a bunch of overpriced stuff, but I remember the ratio of actually firearms to jerky/jewelry/toy helicopters/male enhancement pills/etc. to be pretty good in comparison to other shows.

Dust Bowl is money! That place saved my *** when I was in Merced.

Looking for stuff to do? Visit Sonora for the morning. The summer tourists are gone. Maybe breakfast in Twain-Harte. The Sierra is lovely in the fall.

Another good shop/range in the "area" is Barnwood Arms in Ripon.
They usually have some pretty rare pistols there.
Also Old Alquist sometimes have off roster pistols on consignment for free market prices.
