    Safe for ammo

Do you guys have a separate safe for your ammo or do you guys just throw them in a room/closet? Not sure if i should invest in a safe for my ammo.

Go to a used office supply store and buy a big, 2-door metal cabinet, preferably one you can padlock, though you can add your own hasp if you need to. Make sure there are a minimum of 3 shelves inside.
It will be securable, cheaper and hold a lot more ammo.

Try a job box like this. They come in different sizes and brands.

If you can fit your ammo in a safe, you don't have near enough.

What's the lb. per shelf weight rating on cabinets like that?

Since they're intended to hold office supplies, would they even be weight rated?

No need for a safe for ammo unless your affraid someone is going to steal it. Even then ammo is worth far less than other items.

Stack on makes a couple of locking steel cabinets which are for ammo or handgun storage. Inexpensive and effective.

I've never been able to figure out why people buy relatively expensive safes to keep something as mundane as ammo? My father in law asked me the same question, he was ready to shell out $1,200.00 for a safe to store ammo. I don't get it? What's wrong with a locking garage cabinet or a used $20.00 metal cabinet from a garage sale? It's your money to waste, I guess?

There is no way that one of those can hold the weight of a substantial amount of ammo. The ones I have at work are only slightly thicker gauge metal than an aluminum can.

Yep, I have a stack on locker and, yep, it isn't big enough. Weight is an issue, btw. Tools cost more than ammo, btw.

This! I have two. One is full of ammo and the other has some ammo and few tools I like to keep secured.
