The way it should work is like Maine, 18 & older and just fill out the form and send it in. They run a check and send you the permit in the mail, no huss no fuss.

Accually it should really be like vermont. no permit needed....

Yep Del Norte County. Just noticed I didn't have my location filled in on the forums.

It was great the sheriff just asked me a couple questions while he was signing a few spots on my application. As soon as he finished signing it the interview was over and he said I was approved and to come back after I get qualified.

Just curious, what kind of questions was he asking? About why you wanted a permit, why you want to carry ext? If so, do you mind shareing your answers? Dont mean to pry, im just curious as to what kind of things they would want to know before giveing a permit. Sounds like you got a great sheriff.

The reason I put on the application was I ride a dual sport motorcycle a lot and it isn't practical to carry a locked container. He asked me again during the interview and I told him the same thing. He asked if I ever had a need for a gun when I was riding, I said no, but I would rather be safe then sorry. Thats all he really asked about my reason. It seemed like he is pretty much shall issue. Of course if someone went overboard and sounded paranoid I don't know if they would get one.
