    American Security Safe

    AMERICAN SECURITY SAFE
Anyone have any information as far as thier own experience with this Brand Safe.
I found a decent deal on this Brand and have been looking at reviews.
I currently own 2 other safes but need another for over flow.
I am just wanting to know if it has stood up in quality and is a viable option as they are on sale and seem to be constructed Very Well.
16 Gun safe on sale for 930.00 shipped to home is the Sale and Size i Need.

I own an Am Sec safe and I hate the lock on it. Very finicky. I have jostle the lock at zero to get it to open.

I have an AmSec with a digital keypad (like the one below). No issues with it. I've had it for 4 years or so.

I've had an American Security safe for about a dozen years. Here is my experience:
        1. It's heavy, something like 850lbs. Hire a professional safe mover to install it. It will remain where it is as long as the building it is installed in remains standing.
        2. It opens.
        3. It closes.
        4. It holds guns. Not enough, of course.

Yeah, what Mitch said. These really shrink fast. Never wash yours in hot water.

Seriously, OP, they are good safes. I chose the simple dial type because rapid access firearms should be stored in alternate locations.

Good quality. You don't pay as much for the marketing, the name, or the glossy paint job.

I've had my Amsec (6036) for 8 years, with electronic opener.

You would think I wouldn't forget the combination after that long, I was trying to add a # in the middle of the combination and couldn't get it to open.

Lock smith came too the house and figured out my error! I think I'm getting old, I take that back. I am getting

Only problem I've had with it.

Well I purchased it This afternoon it will be delivered Sunday. A Buddy of mine Owns a Gun Shop and also is a AmSec Safe Dealer.
He cut me a Deal I couldnt refuse due to a Employee who purchased it and Went to a Bigger Safe a Week Later.
The one i Got is the 16 slot with 4 pistol Slots on the Door Hanger.
I think i will be Happy with it.
Thanks for the input I Appreciate the Information.

I have an AMSEC with electronic opener.
When the battery is low, you can hear a small click but the door will not open.
(Probably the same for many electronic locks.)
Keep a spare battery nearby or replace on a schedule.

                    Customer Service:
                    Not good for my issue.
I wanted an extra shelf and asked AMSEC how to get it since the one Dean Safe had was the wrong color and slightly larger than the one already there.
Wrote them a request e-mail twice, got a canned response twice, still waiting for a reply ~two years later.
(Bought the one from Dean Safe.)

Any commercial safe that is relatively heavy and bolted to a slab will work for the needs of most people. They are sufficient enough to discourage smash and grab burglars and satisfy child safety concerns.

High end safes with shiny paint and luxurious interiors are great if you can afford it, but unnecessary in most cases. I have personally responded to hundreds of residential burglaries and I have never seen any decent quality safe breached. Of course it can be with time and effort, but most burglars will ransack drawers and take cash, checks, laptops, unsecured handguns, and other stuff that fits in backpacks.

These guys do not normally bring heavy duty safecracker tools. It is more likely a brick through a patio door and a long screwdriver.

I have an amsec. Dealer hooked me up with a s&g mechanical (I will NOT use an electronic lock). Pretty hefty, not as thick on the walls as I'd like, but it's better than nothing. The fire rating is pretty good as well.

Stores my guns comfortably, as long as I alternate them.

With the shelf (small, for papers and junk) installed, it BARELY fits a 16" ar. ETA: the barrel holder part... it sits too high up

The safe i purchased says 16 plus 4 door pistol pouches, its more like 12 plus 4 pistols. Its 14 gauged walls and 3/16 Door. 390 lbs and Floor bolt package comes with. I know safes cant keep them all out but most burglars are smash and grab jobs.
Now i can leave the house knowing my Horny Whores are Somewhat safe. No more hiding Weapons in the dishwasher or behind the Washer and Dryer for me just to go to Dinner or the Gym.
                          A little piece of mind.

OTOH, I cannot successfully use a manual dial - fine motor control isn't good enough to align the dial and the place on the lock without over-running, and vision is deteriorating for close work. Eventually I can get it to open....

I got a LaGard commercial electronic lock on my AMSEC, and I have had no problems at all in 10+ years. And there are new-ish EMP-resistant (some of the ads say '-proof' but I'm not that accepting) models widely available.
