Ive been searching all morning. Didnt there used to be a list with shops who were accommodating and not over priced when it came to PPT? Im looking for a friendly shop in Monterey or Seaside.

That may very well be the list I was thinking of. I read so much on here that I tend to mesh different things together in thought.
Yes, a PPT is $35 but there are many shops who like to tack on extra fees even though its wrong and illegal but it still happens and then there are shops who frown on customers coming in to only do a PPT and who make it very difficult to do so.
Im not from the area and its a long drive there so im hoping that someone can help me find a shop who accepts a PPT with open arms and who doesnt take advantage of additional fees up and above the $35 in Monterey or Seaside. I really dont want to waste my time after a long drive with a shop that isnt going to help me.Previous iTrader rating, over 150 Positive ratingsComment

Some places have policies that are unfriendly to PPTs, even if they only change the appropriate DROS fees. In the SJ area, I know Kerleys wouldn't PPT off roster guns for a while (I stopped going there so maybe they changed their policy). Reeds has a crazy high per day penalty if you don't pick up right after your 10 day wait is up.Comment

Thanks but I think San Jose is a bit of a drive further northeastSome places have policies that are unfriendly to PPTs, even if they only change the appropriate DROS fees. I transfered an AR at a shop in Capitola that went very smooth and the guys were nice enough. Let me know and I'll get the name if it's not too far away for you.**** your feelings!Comment

I know I am not in SeaSide area, but I would like to comment on the shops in my area, Modesto. I am seeing more and more Gunshops post signs
"No PPT's on Saturday"
"No PPT's after 4 p.m."
"No PPT's **********"
I did not think the DOJ allowed Gunshops to create their own rules for doing PPT's. The way I read it, they were required to do PPT's during normal business hours.
A couple years back, I meet a guy half way. The gunshop in the middle was The Gun Room in Elk Grove. I was selling a AR. The guy behind the counter said, "Oh, we don't do PPT's for ARs. I had driven 60 miles and he had driven about the same. It was in the evening and all other gunshops were closed. To say I was pissed, would be a huge understatement. I did call the DOJ and made a complaint. Not sure anything happened to them.
For me, I will buy and give business to the stores who like their customers and don't lay a bunch of rules upon them just to make things easier for themselves.Comment

The Gun Room
. Should have looked up their reviews first.

WOW ! I checked their reviews just now. How can a gunshop stay in business with that many upset customers. Apparently, they just do not care about customer service.
It is gunshops like "The Gun Room" that give all other gunshops a bad name. If you have a lady or someone getting into the sport for the first time, they will probably think all gunshops are rude. Not a good thang.
There are so many excellent stores out there, that really do care about customer service. But, one bad apple,,,,,,,,,Comment

Down south it's 'Fowlers' that are A Holes.
Avoid them.

Santa Cruz armory in Scott's Valley has always treated me well. Their slogan is "the gun shop without the gun shop attitude." Not sure what their price is though.Comment
