Some years back, a friend of mine that was an officer in a neighboring department, stopped in at the Hog's Breath Inn in Carmel, CA, which happened to be owned by Clint Eastwood. Dirty Harry himself showed up. My friend asked Eastwood if he would autograph his off duty revolver which he gladly did.
My wife and I went to the Hog's Breath Inn a number of times but I was never fortunate enough to see Eastwood. I think it was pretty cool to get the autograph on his gun.Comment

so you get it autographed and then what, you just put it in the safe? I can't think of a single autograph that would stand up to being cleaned and oiled.Just curious what everyone thinks.
Say you are at a shooting event, expo, show and etc and a dignitary (people like Generals, president of NRA, former seal team member, John McCain and etc) were there and you have access, would you ask them to autograph your firearms?
Is it going to hurt the gun value with the autographs if down the road I have to sell?
I know I can always try to take off the autographs but I don't want to take the chance of possibly damaging the original finishing.
I'm not much for autographs anyway.Calguns.net, where everyone responding to your post is a Navy Force Delta Recon 6 Sniperator.Comment

I wonder if Gavin or Hillary would sign my AR?

And why would I want McCain's autograph on one of my guns?
I'll give him mad props for his service to our country and his fellow POWs.
But John Kerry served in that same war, and I do not look up to either of them.- Rich

I believe John Wayne autograph one of the rifles on the wood stock that was used in the movie the Alamo, that obviously increased its value.
but I don't have any safe-Queens, so I don't think I would ask anyone alive just sign a gun because then you can't really use it as it was intended to be used it becomes something that you just wait around to sell.Comment

How about an engraved autograph? Like les Baer signed/engraved on a les baer?
As for how op describes , no, not for meAre you an LA county voter? Elect a pro-gun sheriff, Bob Lindsey on June 5th!

I'm not starstruck so autographs do nothing for me. And once a gun is signed, I'm not sure how you would go about keeping it from getting messed up unless it then became a safe queen.
I do suppose there is a market for everything. Whether this would increase the value of the gun and even if you could sell it, would probably depend on who signed it."Kestryll I wanna lick your doughnut."

i'll surmise that there are some notables whose signature/mark on a weapon they owned would increase said weapon's value for the next and future owners if the signature/mark was in addition to other documentation that identified that weapon as belonging to that notable. there were/are those that used a firearm as a tool of their trade that marked their weapons just as many mechanics mark their tools.
regarding meeting a celebrity and having that person autograph my weapon, i'm not an autograph hound and wouldn't seek one on a firearm if i was.Comment
