Ruger Redhawk in .45 Colt, it can also use the .45 acp with moon clips.Comment

Thank you my friend for that advice...
IDK, unless demand as really outrun supply of the JM models, that seems a bit high for a worn unit-but it is on a GS floor so maybe appropriate. I got mine 3 years ago off of gunbroker, in pristine condition for $700.
A new barrel band can be had for under $40 and is easy to change if that is a real issue.
At any rate, they are a hoot to shoot, and .45colt is a fun cartridge to reload and explore.......in the cowboy carbine and the six-shooters
Good points..!
I admit I am a SUCKER for JM Marlin Lever guns.....
Be well

My favorite 45lc is my Winchester 94, super fun plinker and its a hoot to send some buffalo bore +P+ through it

My second favorite would be my 460v, mainly because I love shooting 460 but if you put 45lc in it, its the lightest shooting, best trigger, best sights, highest quality DA revolver youll find

And my third favorite is the USFA SAA, USFA is hands down the highest quality SAA you can get

I have several firearms chambered in 45 Colt
handguns:
Uberti Cattleman Hombre
Uberti New Army Conversion
Ruger Blackhawk 45 Colt/45ACP convertible
S&W Model 25-10
rifles:
Uberti Winchester model 1873
Rossi R92
Taurus Thunderbolt
All the handguns are fun to shoot. With the rifles, even though mine have 24" barrels (26" for the Taurus), I'm "lobbing" ammo downrange when shooting at 200 yds. My Model 1873 has a tang peep sight which allows me to get on target relatively quickly, but with the Rossi and Taurus I'm guessing elevation correction and I'm not consistent."The right to buy weapons is the right to be free"

I reload 45 Colt and use several recipes. A couple of years go I inadvertently mixed up recipes and ended up firing 5 rds thru my Uberti Cattlemen loaded with 11.0 grs of Titegroup when the max listed load was 6.5 grs. The gun held up just fine"The right to buy weapons is the right to be free"

Factory pressures are anemic in modern guns
I think SAAMI is around 14,000 PSI to prevent issues in 100+ year old guns. I think the safe threshold is something around 22,000 for modern clones. Stronger actions like Blackhawks can run 30,000.
Modern 1892 Winchester actions can safely run .454 Casull and I think those pressures are around 50,000Comment

I've got a few; Colt SAA, Blackhawk, Contender, but my favorite by far is a Colt New Service dating to 1925. You can't beat the fit and finish, and a nice shooter grade New Service will cost a lot less than a Colt SAA, Ruger or S&W. They pop up in the marketplace from time to time.

I was loading 230 GR RNL bullets using Titegroup powder. Hodgdon data indicate the max load to be 6.5 grs of powder, 934 ft/sec, 13,000 CUP. All I know is that I almost double charged the max recommended loadI think SAAMI is around 14,000 PSI to prevent issues in 100+ year old guns.
