Well you could go cowboy style and get a nice Blackhawk, or double action and stainless and get a nice redhawk in 4.2" or 5.5". I think the 4.2" comes in a 45 acp model that takes LC too.

I saw a fairly clean (but not perfect) JM marked Marlin Cowboy Limited in
      45 LC. The other day.

I stood there thinking about reloading 45LC.....hmmmmm.......maybe.

I had a Ruger New Model Blackhawk in .45 Colt. Shot and leaded up like a sewer pipe.

Try finding a Smith & Wesson 25-9 or similar model.

You won't regret buying an older S&W.

Get a real Colt SAA. You'll have to buy private party though they are no longer being made.

How much? Usually I don't like lever guns in 45LC though. I wasn't aware the Colt SAA had been discontinued.

I had a Umberti 1875 Army Outlaw for a while that was a lot of fun.

Rossi makes am 1892 Winchester that is really fun

Great fun up to a hundred yards. After that, the trajectory gets interesting.

there was a decade or more where ruger blackhawks had cylinder throats that were too tight. this ended up causing accuracy problems. If you mic the throats you might be able to ream them out to proper dimensions. A few places sell the reamer online.

Those .45 slugs may be slow, but they kick up a lot of dust and debris when shooting in the great outdoors. Lotsa fun.

I have a few guns in 45LC. A Rossi 1892 Clone, two Ruger New Vaquero Bisleys, a repro 1875 Remington and a repro 1873 Coltand next week I will be picking up my Henry Big Boy. I use them all for Cowboy Action shooting.

If you want to go close to originals, go with Umberti. They are also the OEM for a few other brands.

Rugers are good guns, but they will have transfer bars and will be built like tanks. Nothing even close to what the originals looked like.

An alternative is to get a S&W X-Frame 460 magnum which will shoot 454 Casull and 45 Colt as well (It's technically just "Colt," not "Long Colt").

Well, it was on the RACK on the floor. Asking was $1250 but it wasn't pristine.
It had a bluing issue like a strap on the magazine tube wore about an inch of blue. The actin was nice. Hex barrel, Ballard rifling.

The FFL said an offer of $800 might work.

That means Colt Clone or Ruger.

Either will be awesome. I love mine.

I have that rifle. Other than a Garand, it is far and away my favorite long gun.

And loading .45colt offers a lot of room for experimentation, if you have a modern gun.

I'm running 13 gr of AA#7 behind a 255 gr LSWC. This is around 19000 psi, and it packs a big punch out of the carbine. I was amazed at the divot it put in a 3/8" thk ar500 steel plate at 100 yds-size of a quarter, and close to 1/8" deep. It really thumps.

IDK, unless demand as really outrun supply of the JM models, that seems a bit high for a worn unit-but it is on a GS floor so maybe appropriate. I got mine 3 years ago off of gunbroker, in pristine condition for $700.

A new barrel band can be had for under $40 and is easy to change if that is a real issue.

At any rate, they are a hoot to shoot, and .45colt is a fun cartridge to reload and explore.......in the cowboy carbine and the six-shooters
