Good Bye to Chabot

Chabot shooting range's last day is today.

This is a very sad day to me. It makes me wish I had used it more when I had the chance.

The range was nestled in the Castro Valley hills in a beautiful surrounding. Lots of found memories.

Just got back from there with my son. Had a great trip (he is only 6 so no shooting for him) and its sad to see it go.

A very sad day to see this beautiful shooting range location in the East Bay close.
Some of us CL peeps were out yesterday for one last shoot and BBQ.
We arrived at 8:30 and all the remaining 6 benches were soon gone in minutes.
Had a great time shooting with friends and family. It was great to see people bringing
young kids and signing the petitions.
Out of respect we invited the range masters and RSO's to eat with us or
come by for a plate when they had time.

I wonder if authorities would show the same forbearance if a bunch of middle-aged men were to use the same tactic as a bunch of out-of-work children for protesting a perceived wrong.

I went to the last day of San Gabriel Valley Gun Club. A worker that I believe lived at the range ended up killing himself. I also closed up a range I used to operate. I hate to see places to shoot close but I sure wish a couple would come under new ownership.

I am seriously considering buying a range in Colorado that is for sale, but that does you no good...

Chabot to be on KRON 4 tonight at 8 pm

I just saw a blip on KRON 4 regarding the Chabot closure, says they'll more at 8 pm.

I hope they reveal this was all just a hoax and Chabot will only be closing for a few months to remodel the place with more shooting benches and, a couple of longer over hangs, and a brand new - and longer - marksmanship range ...
