Ain't that the truth....I've held stuff for people who promised to buy something in 2 weeks or when they get paid. Turn away other buyers with money in hand and guess what, two weeks rolls by and the original buyer backs out. Then you have to relist your product at a lower price. In the end, you're the one who lost out.

From now on, if you want something....it's a non-refundable deposit. (too bad I don't always stick to this rule )

It takes over ten minutes to confirm billing info of a credit card, and there is no way a store can keep a phone deposit if the card holder didn't receive anything. The card holder can just charge it back, which will cost the store 2% plus increased fees all year due to having a chargeback on their account.

Having said that, other stores with better websites do it all the time with just the potential buyers phone number as collateral.
