    Turners Used and Consignment

Anyone ever checkout the guns at:

And then go into the store to check them out in person?

I'm wondering a few things. Is the condition listed fairly accurate? Are the prices reasonable for the listed condition or are they all over the place? And are the prices negotiable?

I'm not knowledeable enough on guns to make an informed decision on the condition or the listed prices...

The problem with consignment guns is its usually based on the sellers description about its ability. Turners has no guarentees on consignment items.

I've bought a few firearms from Turner's that were on consignment. No real complaints, just a matter of smart shopping.

If it's a handgun that is not on the DOJ approved list, then yeah, you might expect to pay a little more than normal.

I'm not sure how the stores rate the conditions of the firearms, as I have seen on several occasions that two identical firearms in two different stores will be listed in the same condition but the prices will be different.

just make sure to call them first to make sure they still have it. Ive also asked them before if they could put it in the back so no one bought it on my drive out there and they did without a hassle

I look at it once in a while. Its a shame they don't bother to put a picture or two for these firearms.

I tried that and the Reseda store would not do it for me.....told me is was still there, but hey would not hold it....take yer chances. I passed. It wasn't worth the risk of driving way over there for nothing.

Are you serious? That is garbage. I was thinking about calling in for that TC they have on the website. But I'm not going to drive from Riverside to Reseda if they won't hold it for me.

They will do it if you are one of their buddies. I caught them doing it once and forced them to sell the gun to me. I don't bother calling to have them hold or to check anything because too much potential for them just to be lazy and say they already sold it.

I have given up for the most part driving to far away Turners for the good used deals. And yes the condition ratings and pricing is very haphazard. I've only done well 2 times since this has been around on the website.

I asked about 2 revolvers in Reseda and their response was they sold it 2 days ago. This female employee wasn't even thinking of what she was saying. I told her it was just listed a night ago because I was monitoring the website. I just hope that they won't list if they (Turner's employees) plan to buy it. I kid one employee there about them buying the good deal and he smiled at me. Sort of giving me the guilty look.

Same thing happened in Pasadena store, I talk with Dustin (store manager) about a pistol and he said they don't have it and they never had. I asked him if he could please check their website since it was listed as NEW. He said there was a mistake and he will remove it.

Some listings are just too good to be true.

I have been told that they will transfer guns for a refundable deposit. In other words, put 100 bucks on a gun you like, they will do an interstore transfer (a few days), and you can inspect...but or get your moolah back.

No personal experience with this, but it may be good if you live in SFV and have your eye on a gun in SD.

I don't like the fact that they wouldn't hold the gun for me for at least as long as it took for me to drive there....hell I was going to leave as soon as I put the phone down. But I have gotten some of the consignment guns and they can be good deals. I got, well secured for a friend anyway, a nice pre-mim and lock S&W 686-4 for $325. I thought that was a great price considering it's off the list and all forged. I have seen some fairly cheap Ruger MKII pistols sell in the $199 range that I would have bought if they would have held them for me the 45 minutes it would have taken me to speed over there.

I've purchased a couple of used guns at Turners. It's pretty much hit or miss as far as the descriptions are concerned. If you know what you are doing, you'll be fine.

I have seen several of the "used" and consignment guns firsthand after reading about them on the site. They are pretty accurate in describing them.
They can transfer "used" guns from store to store, but they will not transfer consignment guns.

The problem is the lazy jerks they have working for them. I called about a S&W pre-model 10 they had 1 hour after they listed it. The guy I talked to said he thought it was sold. I went there the next day. Turns out the guy who told me it was sold was thinking of buying it for himself- and he couldnt make up his mind.

But in the end I got a sweet revolver in superb shape for $150.00

It's not reasonable for them to hold it.

Say they hold it and as soon as they hang up someone walks in and wants to buy the gun. They say, sorry, it's promised to some guy on the phone. Customer walks out. Guy on the phone never shows. They lose a sale.

All they need to do is take CC information over the phone. $50 deposit. You lose it if you don't come in for it.
