Never seen a Desert Warrior II, I have a Desert Warrior but it's a series I gun. Does your Desert Warrior have a Swartz firing pin safety.

My guns are all treated with corrosionX. I'm not saying all rust, but mine did. Personal experience is how opinions are formed, if you use your own brain. I think dodge makes the best diesel truck. That's based off my experience of almost never having one in the shop. I have many more fords and Chevys then I do dodge. Same stuff.

Congrats on not having that issue, they are nice guns and I enjoyed it very much. I don't believe in treating guns like fabrege eggs. I shouldn't have to be 100 percent with my cleaning or I'll experience a problem. That's my opinion.

My kimber eclipse custom ii has been so terrible and unreliable the last 8 years, that the wife confiscated it for her own HD weapon of choice. The looks on peoples face at the range is great, with a tiny 110lb person is tack driving tight groups with a full frame 45 acp.

My wife's pistol of choice as well. Not one malfunction of any kind....yet. I believe all the above posts. What most people don't understand is unless you buy a top end 1911 say ed brown, Wilson combat, night hawk etc, it's a crap shoot. Some production 1911's are fine, some not so much.

All my guns are treated with Rem oil, no fancy state of the art firearm lubricant. Just good old fashioned gun oil. Never needed anything else, I clean and lube after using. I firmly believe most people under lube their firearms, run it on the wet side. Learned that from Uncle Sam, worked for me all these years, rust and problem free.

Kimber gets a lot of hate and a lot of praise. I can not speak on current guns as I have not had a Kimber in a while. I HAVE had 4 (Series 1 classic custom, Gold Combat, Target II 9mm, and a BP 10-2) The only one I had performance issues with was the 9mm, after a reliability job and extractor tuning it was great. The series 1 gun went 170k rds without a parts failure, sold it at 170k and never had a failure of a part, as for malfunctions....I do not recall any past the three I had in the first 56k rounds. Those happened with reloads on high round count days without a cleaning (1000rds in a day) So to me, that gun was amazing. The other two worked well and I do not recall failures with any of those two...but I did not own them long.

As for the custom shop..it is a joke. That label means a little more machining niceties, period. Had one, not impressed with fit.

If I went with another Kimber I would get a TLE and would not go higher on their line. That is my opinion.

They are production guns, so I will not pick apart triggers and slide to frame, or barrel fit too much, some were really pretty good, others were ok. When buying a production gun, you buy a gun where part A fits fine with part B out of the crate of parts produced.

This thread make me want to shoot my Kimber. It's late though, I'll have to settle for grabbing it from the safe and practicing middle of the night bad guy drills. Maybe I'll swap it with my Glock and use it as my night stand gun for a while.

Haven't cleaned or lubed it in several hundred rounds, zero issues... then immediately follows that up describing a malfunction from within the first box of ammo and goes on to mention how the magazines don't even fit properly.

Few hundred rounds.....

Love my Raptor.
No malfunctions at all, FMJ or Federal HST... maybe 600 or 700 through it.
Yes, I was disappointed in the plastic MSH, but since I love the grips and want to preserve them, I replaced them with VZs and installed a Magwell with the stainless MSH.

Mags are snug, but not a problem to seat, and they do drop free.

whoops I don't know why I typed II..Its just the regular desert warrior. No swartz safety (i believe its a series 70) I know they did offer a warrior II for Ca and Mass that did include all the safteys, but mine is off roster non Ca version.

OK, I've seen the Warrior II's but didn't think Kimber offered a Dersert II. The Warrior line(series I, no FPS) is probably my favorite Kimber along with the Super Carry HD's. Nice looking DW you got.

Rusts are due to neglect. Happens to pistols from other manufacturers as well, specially under the grips.

Read: it didn't happen with my specific firearm(s), therefore everyone else on the internet must be a neglectful idiot. Cool reasoning, bro!
