Going to sip some AR kool-aid

Got an 80% AR lower receiver. Got a lower parts kit. EZ jig with bits and mill is on the way. Have a drill press and cutting oil. Will get a router.

    Question 1.
Am I still in need of:
    - punches. GOT EM
    - AR wrench
    - mag well block? GOT IT holds upper too
    Any other tools?

    Question 2
If I go with a complete, dedicated rimfire upper (some flavor of. 17 or .22) I can have detachable mags, normal mag release, and the evil features?

It will be marked per ATF regulations.

    Thanks for all the help.

If built as a semi-auto rimfire rifle, then the only restrictions that you need to be concerned with is having a minimum barrel length of 16" and a minimum overall length of 26".
There are no other restricted features for a rimfire rifle.

If built as a rimfire pistol, then it must be made as a dimensionally compliant bolt-action or break-top/open single-shot pistol.
It must have a minimum barrel length of 6", must have a minimum overall length of 10.5", must operate as a bolt-action or a break-open, must not have a magazine capacity, and can never have been semi-auto.

      Great. That helps.
      (Never considered a pistol... hmm)

Intended purpose (someone will ask) is a plinking, range toy. Maybe go after squirrels at the ranch (my daughters 10/22 is perfect for this).
Mostly, I just like making things. An 80% is perfect for this.

You really dont need an AR wrench unless you are going with a standard Delta ring assembly. If you are going with a Free Float aftermarket rail, they use their own wrenches.

Diamondhead Rails use common 1.25" wrenches, or 12" Cresent Wrenches that open to 1.25".

                Question 3
Which do you prefer and why,
                - co-witness
                or
                - 1/3 co-witness
