    Storing My Bulk Ammo???

Whats the best way to store my bulk ammo, with limited space? I rent a room in a house, and I need to be able to store my ammo in my room. I try to store as much as possible in the safe, but Im running out of room. I don't need to worry about my roommates, but with the price of ammo I want to make sure its locked up. Please give me some ideas.

    Thanks Calguns

Store ammo for use in safe. Store bulk ammo in lockable ammo boxes. MTM makes cheap lockable plastic ammo boxes. Keepem full, about 2000 rounds of 9mm in each is 50ish pounds. Aint nobody running off with that

Cheapest is Saran wrap over factory cardboard ammo cases. Keeps em fresh With tamper detection.

Wooden crates, that are metal banded, stacked under your bed.

Do you have access to the garage? Home Depot job box can store a lot and it's lockable. Otherwise I think you're looking at a lockable foot locker/trunk.

If you're not worried about your roommates, why are you so worried about locking it? And I'm not saying that's not a good idea. It is, of course. But you could buy ammo cans and store them under the bed, except ammo cans aren't usually lockable without some type of modification.

Pelican 1650 and a padlock. Heavy duty case can take all the weight of the ammo stuffed full, and has wheels to move it when you need to.

Small gang box? Put it at the foot of your bed like a foot locker, with a pad on top so it's like your extra seat for dressing. Fancy? Lol.

Pelican is a good option, even though your room mates aren't criminals, that doesn't exempt criminals from your house. Easy to wheel it right off.

Ammo cans do get heavy real quick. Smash n grab thieves won't be able to carry more than 2 cans.

Or, buy more ammo, and make the room into an impenetrable ammo fort! This is your best option.

Jobsite box. It will last for years.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

                  OK, so how much ammo?
Do you have permission from your landlord to keep that much ammunition inside his or her house?
Your landlord pays for the fire insurance and if you've got cases of the stuff and it starts cooking off in a fire, well you get the picture.
For a moderate amount of ammo, I saw some lockable under bed ammo boxes, MTM if I recollect correctly, at the local Ace Hardware just yesterday.

It is very subjective, but I think Joseph brings up a good point for a renter. One does not want an incident like that happening on someone else's property if there is an insurance liability/civil suit issue at stake.

I live in a "smallish" apartment in a very safe location. My gun safe is full of guns, so the wife and I had to get creative about ammo storage. We like a lot of ammo, even more so that we are now stocking up for the future over the next 2 years ago with the laws coming into place.

We bought a big L shaped couch with storage under the cushions. While it's not the most secure, we can get a lot of ordinance in there
