Rifle Pics: Thoughts, condition, worth, discussion.

Hello CGN! Newbie here, did a quick search and believe this is the correct place to post. I have a few guns that I'd like to get the sites thoughts/discussion on before posting to the WTS thread. Thank you all ahead of time for any wisdom you decided to impart on me. If you're interested in any before I get a chance to post them to the WTS thread then please send a pm. I'm located in San Marcos 92078. I can only Embed 10 pics but there is a link at the bottom to many more pics with various angles/close-up and so on.

1950 SKS Never shot by me (think I remember my Dad shooting it though)

1951 SKS Again never shot by me (this one I remember Dad saying he never shot either)

Iver Johnson 22lr (was given this when young but I never shot it)

Glenfield Model 75 22lr (shot a few times many years ago but disliked loading from the front)

Ruger 10/22 (had about 4 of these can't remember shooting this one)

Savage 7mm Rem Mag Model 110 Left Handed (was Dad's hunting rifle, think it was only shot when sighting the scope)

The following link should let you view all the photos I took. Easiest way to browse if using Google's Chrome.

Thanks for stopping by, let me know what you think. Looking to sell these so just want to know as much as possible before doing so. Also have ammo to the SKS' and 7mm.
    Cheers,
    -Nub

The 2 sks could be btwn 400 to 500. The ruger 10/22 depending on age and wood stock some get up to 500 for collectors. Glenfield 75 is 100 bucks to 150. The savage left hand 7mm maybe 250.

I think I'd be disappointed to know that my son was so indifferent about my interests, yet so interested in how much he could profit from my belongings.

I do hope you sell them to someone who will appreciate and use them.

Actually the Soviet made SKS rifles could be worth far more than 400 to 500$$$

It depends whether theay are all matching, and whether they are refurbs or original...

You should post detailed photos of the m in the Curio Relic and black powder section...

For a better and more educated answer.

Selling your pop's rifles? You sure you will not regret letting them go? I couldn't part with guns that my father handed down to me. But that's just me. Cash can always be earned by other ways. Once you sell them you will most likely never get a chance to get them back. Ask me how I know.

Not everyone is attached to their fathers firearms especially when they have not much value or history of family ownership, not being a custom made firearms, not being a collector type firearm, having no stories attached to the firearms, or just having no interest in certain or particular firearms at hand. Could very well be what's going on with the OP. I went through this years ago, I kept what had meaning and all the rest went to people who would appreciate them for what they were. NO REGRETS on doing what was right for me.

My apologies: I should've clarified that these are the rifles that I've decided to part with.

I wish you all could have chatted/experienced my parents. Mom was from Louisville Kentucky. She was the type of woman that would've just as easily adopt you as her own and give you all that she had but also deliver a backhand to your face if you didn't set the table for company and I will always love/respect her for that!

Dad was from Canton Ohio. He hated everything that was California but stayed only because Mom loved it and wanted the best for me. He taught me to respect the responsibility/duty of a gun. I am now who I am because of both of them. I was fortunate to inherit all of their collection.

Nobody on this site will ever know of the firearms that I've decided to keep in memory of them (because that's how it should be). But if the above ones just so happen to interest you then feel free to send me a PM.

Or feel free to send me an address where we can meet with-which I can help you in swallowing your teeth

I totally understand your take on those guns OP. If a particular item you have inherited has no special sentimental value to you, why keep it? My dad wasn't a gun guy, but he did have a few firearms. I sold them all except for the one that had any real meaning to me and I have no regrets.

As for your rifles, the only ones that I have any real knowledge about what the market is the SKS's. The Russians are considered to be the cream of the crop and are certainly worth a bit of a premium over the much more common Chinese and Yugos.

The 1950 is definitely a refurb as the laminated stocks weren't made until late 1954. BUT, people go nuts over laminated stocked Russian SKS's so I would put it's value at $500-550 firm.

The '51 could be original, but most were refurbished. Look on the dust cover and see if there is a mark that looks like a box with a line inside, something like this, ( [/] ). That is a rebuild mark and will oftentimes be stamped on the stock too, but not always.

Also, most of the time when they were refurbished, they were painted with flat black paint. I see that the bolts on both guns are still in the white and the metal looks blued in you pictures, so that is a good thing and, IMO makes them more desirable.

If the '51 dated rifle has been rebuilt, but hasn't been shot since, I would say that it is worth about the same as the other one, maybe just a tad more. If there are no rebuild stamps, and all the numbers match, it will be more up into the $700 range.

                            Hope this helps.
