    Interesting idea
we should start a thread to discuss what to do in this situation

        Mayan Calendar

Does anyone remember why we had Y2K fears? It is because in the 70s and 80s, all the IT managers thought their software would surely be replaced by the millenium or at least that they would have retired by then. So the storage saving method of keeping dates as YYMMDD did not change. We started to see problems in 1995 when planning systems tried to plan for materials with real long lead times. We had to manually fudge the lead times until we could add 2 digits to every date field. Now, to the point. There aint no more Mayan IT guys to fix their calendar. The Mayans, rightly BTW assumed it would no longer be their problem!

Zombie robots, isn't that an oxymoron?

Never understood that... Why does anyone think the Mayans knew **** about squat? Any culture that ritualistically sacrificed other humans by cutting out their still-beating hearts, and then skinning them and having the officiating priest wear the skin around like some kind of warmup jacket, can't possible know a whole lot, much less predict the exact day of the end of the world.

The Mayan calendar ends in 2012 because they went out drinking after a long day of math and slept in the next day.

2012 is hyped by the media to sell advertisements. 2012 syndrome is why the History channel now sucks with all this EOD crap.

                          My definitions of SHTF include:

                          Zombies attack
                          Canada invades
                          Government goes bankrupt(er)/collapses
                          Gang invasion
                          Natural disaster

                          That's just about it.

This. I work in downtown LA, and considering I spend more than half of my day, five days a week there, I am probably screwed

Forgot about the Canadian Invasion. They're gonna make us change the name of ham to bacon - that's when the SHTF for real.

I never got to understand - and never before asked - what's the matter with the "zombies"... Who are the "zombies" so many people talk about on so many forums?
