So I was wondering what this means to some of you. I know most of you (including me) has a SHTF bag or a bug out bag/ storage of ammo. But what are your perspectives on it. Do you see it as:

When the Scrap hits the fan. ( you should know what scrap stands for, if not pm me)
or
If the Scrap hits the fan.


And if your a When the SHTF person, what are you thinking is going to cause this to happen?

I am asking purely for interest. This is not a "I have a better plan or idea" or "armageddon is coming" or "ZOMBIES" or "Anarchy" topic, just whether your a IF OR WHEN person. And if your a when, what do you think is or might happen. Hopefully this question doesn't confuse anyone.

barring a zombie outbreak and a possible earthquake, I don't think we should be to arrogant to believe that we are far from revolution. As Americans we may think revolutions are for third world countries, but if the tin foil hat wearers are right and Obama seriously attempts to ban firearms then there is going to be a very pissed off, armed populace. You could replace Obama with the UN or with a North American Union.

+1......Don't forget if some moron tries to assasinate pres. obama and succeeds at doing it ShtF will also break loose. These people are just looking for a reason to cause kaos in this country. I'm already going to stock up on supplies.

you know, 100% agree with that. The day he was charged with murder there was a small riot it Oakland because that wasn't a good enough charge. what were they expecting, him to be killed on the spot? If he is found not guilt or guilt of involentary manslauter I am sure there will be another rodney king style riot.

I don't have a bug out bag, piles of ammo, or a tacticool SHTF gun. What I do have is camping gear, canned goods, propane, and water. If I run out of food I'll go hunting or fishing. Mock me all you want, but this setup has seen me through two trapped-in-your-house floods and one bridge collapsing earthquake.

Likely short-term SHTF - big earthquake causes something like Katrina did in either the Bay Area or LA Basin.

Likely long-term SHTF - economic collapse, poverty, famine.

Remote possibility SHTF - influenza, nuclear or biological war, Yellowstone eruption.

Not really going to happen, but I'm prepared anyway SHTF - zombie invasion, Mayan Doomsday.
