    Called it

Gun prohibition lobbying groups in Oregon and Washington have launched an effort to push for a ban on so-called “assault weapons” in the respective state legislatures next year, and a Northwest-base gun rights organization says the proposal is all flash and no substance. Washington Ceasefire and Ceasefire Oregon held a Wednesday press conference in Seattle […]

Progressives are using the "California model".
Which is take over one or two major urban areas of a State and use the political power that it will bring to bully the rest of the State to their whims, while everyone else is complacent with a "it'll never happen here" attitude.

    Designated progressive take over sites...
For California, it's the SF Bay area and LA metro area.
For Oregon, it's the Portland area.
For Washington, it's the Seattle area.
For Colorado, it's the Denver area.
For Nevada, it's the Las Vegas area.
For Texas, it's the Austin area.

First step, pass "universal background check" laws.
Second step, pass "assault weapons" and "large capacity" ammunition feeding device bans.
Third step, replace "shall issue" CCW with "may issue" CCW.

One thing Oregon has that California doesn't is a huge backwards azz Hillbilly population. It aint gonna fly. Ten miles outside Portland, and you're in a different Oregon.

ETA- My sister from Portland is visiting my mom in Big Bear. I asked my mom if my sister knows my mom builds AR's. Nope. Not her business. Mom turns 71 in two weeks and is getting ready to pull up stakes in CA because of CA insanity.

        Where/when is the tipping point...?

Called it? Two gun control groups announced that they want to pass more gun control. That's supposed to be your amazing prediction? Don't waste money trying to pick the winning Lotto numbers.

It's sad that some California gun owners who apparently aren't willing to leave a state that already has some of the worst gun control laws in the country and where things are definitely getting even worse seem to be hoping that things get worse in other states, just to justify their refusal to move to freedom. Sad.

Until you move out of CA, you'll never know how oppressed you were. I felt like I escaped an abusive relationship once I was in AZ for two weeks.

The locals here will never accept your theory.

(before CA became "may issue" in 1923, CA was "constitutional carry")

Because of the Ninth Circuit en banc ruling in Peruta v San Deigo, anti-gun politicians in WA and OR are convinced that it is now legal to change the "shall issue" CCW laws their States to "may issue" and they can use the Ninth Circuit Court ruling to push it (CCW change) through to become law.

I'll just have to repost something I posted in another thread. Just because things have gone to hell in California it doesn't mean it's going to happen in all of the other states. In fact, while things are bad and getting worse in California, gun rights are strong and getting stronger in most other states.

It's like they think they are trying to scare little kids: "no matter where you run, the bogeyman is going to get you!!" Please.

I ran across an article on gunsandammo.com that ranked the 50 states and DC for gun owners.

What was interesting was seeing the amount of pro-gun legislation being proposed in other states, even if it sometimes failed or was vetoed. It certainly throws a lot of cold water on the "stay and fighters'" meme of inevitable California-style gun gun control spreading across the country. I could see how if you live in California where gun rights are under constant assault someone might think it had to be like that in the rest of the country, but it just isn't true.

While the California Legislature does nothing but crank out more and more gun control laws, legislatures in other states are trying to strengthen gun rights. California is headed in one direction, and most of the rest of the country is headed in the opposite direction.

Kentucky passed a bill this year modernizing some of the training standards for its CCW permits, making the process to obtain a permit potentially even easier.

Missouri is one of those states that has done an about-face on its gun laws in the past several years. A ballot initiative affirming the Second Amendment rights of Missouri residents passed with more than 60 percent of the votes in August 2014. Known once as one of the last holdouts against CCW, the Show Me State is now ahead of the curve when it comes to gun rights.

Short-barreled shotguns (SBSs) are now allowed under state law as of July 1, and no restrictions are imposed upon tactical firearms or magazine capacity.

Louisiana does not restrict NFA items, and as of 2014, it allows suppressors to be used when hunting.

Governor Pat McCrory (R) signed House Bill 562 into law, making official the passage of the third NRA-backed omnibus pro-gun reform bill in the last three legislative sessions. HB 562 makes several important changes to North Carolina gun laws, including:

Last fall, outgoing-Gov. Tom Corbett signed a strong preemption bill to ensure that gun laws are consistent across the Keystone State and allows groups such as the National Rifle Association to sue cities that defy state gun laws.

Another bill expanded the rights of CCW permit holders, and a third bill allows both employees and students of universities to store firearms in their vehicles on campus.
