Anyone hear how the show is shaping up? Is it worth the drive up?

Reno Gun show

The show is pretty good. But it all depends on what you are looking for. A big diverse group from cowboys to militia.
I was lucky to get into the CMP booth early but they have basically sold all guns that they brought. Talking to the staff, around 300 guns were loaded on the truck, only a few left on the table at the end of the day .
Miwall is there with ammo in two BIG booths in the two different sections of the show. Normal decent miwall prices. Lots of Wolf ammo this time out.
DPMS has a big table, selling uppers for 10% under retail. Not a great deal there.Last edited by Hunter; 08-11-2006, 9:29 PM. -
It was a pretty good show. It seemed identical to the last show there (CMP was not there last time though). Came home with 1000 rounds of .223 reloads for $170 OTD, a muzzle brake, and a butt stock cleaning kit. Maybe next time I will have my duck in a row and get in on the CMP deal. That table was crowded all day. The AR parts prices are better online for the most part.Comment

I've seen complaints on this board about too much non-gun stuff at shows. At this one it's almost all guns. I was going to buy a 30 cal carbon fiber cleaning rod but hardly any booths had sundry stuff like this. Also not much C&R stuff that I could find except for CMP which is now mostly sold out according to Hunter. There were tons of hunting rifles, lever actions and all kinds of hand guns. Only about 5 booths were mostly AR/AK stuff.Comment

1.)All humanity would be better off if Stoooopid hurt.
2.)Why is it that if guns are sooooo unsafe that you're 9 times more likely to die at the hands of your doctor?
3.)Remember...Buy it cheap & stack it deep

I went today (I always go to the Big Reno show). I thought it was good. It just depends on what you want out of it. I got what I wanted/needed, and managed to leave with money left over.Rob Thomas - Match Director NCPPRC Tactical Long Range Match

I liked it. My first gun show. Went up with a friend and got me an m4 upper, collapsible stock, black p-grip, detachable carry handle and some tools to put it together for about 525 from dpms. I try to only bring as much as I'm willing to spend, and hope for the best, as there was a loooooooot of stuff that caught my eye there.
my goods...
The best part was when I was carrying the upper out of the front door of the hotel and some lady walked by quickly, turned to her friend and asked rather loudly..."oh my gosh...why does he have a gun?"Comment

You should have seen the looks as I strolled through the casino floor with my 106mm Inert recoil-less anti-tank "round." Thats a .50BMG next to it for reference. You really havn't lived until you've done that.Originally posted by RicefighterI liked it. My first gun show. Can you imagine if California gun shows had that policy tooOriginally posted by xenophobeSellers who specialize with non-firearm items (beef jerky, coins, furbys, etc) are not allowed at Reno. You have to have firearm and military stuff as your primary display.

I was at the show for 4 hours on Saturday and remember a few tables with non-firearms related items. Jewelry, gold coins, books (not firearms related) were just some of the examples.Originally posted by xenophobeSellers who specialize with non-firearm items (beef jerky, coins, furbys, etc) are not allowed at Reno.
