would a combat helmet be useful for ITSHTF?

most all Swat teams / Spec ops use some type of helmet these days

is it practical for regular civilians to have a helmet or vest for SHTF

like LA riots / natural disasters / mass lootings

to have when guarding your home / property from a mob of looters trying to over run your property to capture your supplies, water, food, guns & ammo, during a SHTF situation where the police cant help you and your on your own.

If you are worried about groups of marauders, with baseball bats and 2x4's that have gotten past your kill zone because you ran out of ammo, and all your weapons have malfunctioned. And you are all alone, or or your group is totally overwhelmed.

I suppose it would give you something to hang your NV gear on. Honestly, you will likely never have an opportunity to use one in a real-need situation, but if it's something you want to do . . . heck, why not?

That said, the same $ could be spent on urban tactics training (assuming you have not yet done quite a lot already) and may serve you better in the long run.

Driving through the ghettos during a riot? In the L.A. riots, I think the rioters were throwing bricks and rocks at cars - might be useful in that type of situation or where "urban youth" are throwing things off of highway overpasses . . . Bet the 'Roof Koreans" would have liked helmets to help scare off rioters from their stores plus the rifles . . .
