Angeles -- Too Crowded Lately

I WAS THERE ON FRIDAY TOO, AND IT SEEMED PRETTY MELLOW, I DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE WORKERS TAKING MY BRASS, BUT MAYBE THEY ARE JUST HURTING FOR MONEY, I MEAN ITS 12 BUCKS TO SHOOT ALL DAY.

Got told by the RO that we couldn't shoot ammo with steel casings. I thought it was just steel core projectiles.

I've already noticed lines for the clay target throwing machines. I'm not surprised by the increased attendance of the rest of the range.

I've only been going to Angeles for about 6 months now, but anyone else notice that the place is like Disneyland now? Lots of lines, lots of people, no room.

I love the place, but I just don't get where all these other people came from. I was used to getting in there on the weekend and only feeling the crowd from about 11:30-2 -- otherwise, it was pretty tolerable.

Maybe this would be a good time for you and other interested parties to get the San Gabriel Valley Gun Club re-opened. It was closed down due to city politics/BS.

I had to show them the bullet wouldn't stick to a magnet and they leave me alone now, it helps if you just trash the steel rather than putting it in the brass bucket. I guess they don't have a magnet sorter.

I like the people at Angeles. Always friendly and helpful.

I try to go durring the week to avoid crowds. Weekends get busy. I go on Saturday's and usually stay from about 10:00am-1:00pm.

a lot of people are sighting in their rifles and function checking them....

there is a general pessimism about the relatively near future and thoughts of bad stuff on the horizon.

Wednesday nights it does get busy, but it sure is fun.

In regards to the "USN-Chief" statements about range/brass wenches

I usually install a brass deflector square (large 2x2 metal screen) because many of the people just annoy me, I do that so I can collect my own brass because I was fed up of people lingering behind me and literally picking up my brass after I fired it. I do not reload, I just collect the used brass, place it in a bag, and throw it in my trash, throwing money away-perhaps, but I do not give a damn- I would rather throw it in the trash then have some brass vulture lingering behind me- damn bums.

You can make money off that in the for sale section on here. If you throw it away it just ends up in a landfill.

I stopped by there yesterday afternoon just to say "hi" to the 50 shooters. I didn't shoot. So, I filled out my release of liability, turned it in and went to the rifle side. As I crossed the redline, some moron picks up a rifle, with a closed action, from the back bench and sweeps me and two ROs on his way to the line! The ROs didn't see it, they were busy with someone else, and I wanted to pretend that it didn't happen so, I let it go. I hate looking like an ******* all the time.

Well, I guess I got there too late for most of the 50 shooters. The only ones still there were Butthead and Mrkobota. While I was talking to them, I did politely correct someone who was carrying a 91/30 to the line with a closed action and later stopped them from shooting because the cleaning rod had come loose. Both times, they thanked me for quietly correcting and watching out for them. I didn't mind helping them out. It was the first guy, the one who swept me, that I wanted to ream good! Also, yes, it was crowded when I got there but, there were some open benches.
