So I see a good price on some 9mm Fiocchi 115 gr ammo at $9.95 for a box of 50 at LAX Ammo. The store is close to my house so I figure I'll support a local business. So I go in to the store to grab some ammo but the price is $15.99! So, I ask what's the deal on the two prices..."Oh that's the online price." But I'm here and the ammo/warehouse is here! A $6 difference is HUGE! Ok, then lets do shipping maybe it will still be a good deal. So I go online to register and after typing in all my information I get a prompt, "Cannot ship ammunition to Los Angeles County due to licensing and restrictions." What a catch 22 or classic bait and switch!
So, someone in AZ can buy at $9.95 plus shipping but to purchase in-store is $15.99 plus tax! Is there that much profit in shipping the ammo to warrant a $6 in-store price difference?
The whole thing left a REALLY, REALLY bad taste in my mouth! Another lesson learned as a new shooter.
