I was planning on buying an AK-74 this year, but I fear by the time my financial situation permits me to do so (near the end of the year), they're going to be selling for $10k, or more.

Actually the M2 .50 is a good price considering what you get. As for the 5k SCARs and even a 5.5k 1919A4 and 4.5k RPD is laughable.

The scar 16/17 markup is comical. 5-6k for a scar ? When MSRP is 2.5k, most outside of the state retailers will make the scar CA compliant for a few $100 more.

I'm waiting to see the Nov-Dec prices. Will prob be common place to see guns selling for 300% of their MSRP as people try to cash in.

I have some odd sand ends in re loading and ammo. I've got them in the marketplace now. I'm opting to throw it away over dealing with negotiating. I usually price about 50% below retail, still people want you to spend $10 in gas to meet for a $10 box of ammo. Ludicrous.

Agree. Peoples attention as well as $$$ are heading in the direction of ammo, BB2's, and featureless mods ATM due to the pending new law(s) implementation. Hopefully that will drive the price of firearms down a bit.

I rarely sell firearms, but do use the Marketplace as a resource for evaluating the current market. I decided to sell a couple of off-roster Glocks because they were not my cup of tea and the Marketplace indicated they were probably worth much more to someone else in CA. Sold both in less than an hour for asking price, to buyers who were glad to get them.
I've also bought guns off the marketplace, and paid top dollar in a few cases. That's OK, too - I knew what I was buying and was willing to pay the price to get what I wanted. I've also passed on thousands of listings that were more than I was willing to pay for that particular gun. I might pay a whole bunch over list for a pristine model that I want and know is in short supply and high demand IF I wanted one really badly. OTOH, a "bargain" on a gun I don't want doesn't interest me. Not worth my time and effort to buy and sell a gun just to make a couple of Benjamins on it.

                      This can backfire.

I won't even bother clicking on an ad if it has too many posts. I just assume it isn't a good deal.

There is a member here that has been trying to sell some rifles for a year now. Attitude and prices play a huge part.

If you have an ad that is almost a year old and you've bumped it to the sum of 5 pages your asking price is to high for the market. What I don't get is people asking more for an item than you can mail order or walk into your LGS and purchase.

Why do people bump their post when their item is sold? Isnt the whole point of bumping because your item is still for sale? Why cant they just go into advanced edit and change the title to say "Sold"?
