    Which mp5?

I have a law enforcement friend that is looking to buy an mp5 pistol and has asked me to recommend him one.

Iv looked and found two major brands

    POF

    Omega

I know absolutely nothing about mp5s so I plead to the Calguns wizards for wisdom.

Which mp5 is the best bang for the buck

Which mp5 has better attachment options (for arm braces and stuff)

Which is easier for CA compliance?

    Which is the better purchase?

Are there any other brands you would recommend?

    Thanks

MP5's are a model developed and initiated by Heckler and Koch. Not sure which model he could legally purchase, but H&K would be my choice, period.

I recall the H&K were banned in CA by name... they also run $4500+ as people use them for MP5 parts...

I have no idea what clone would work reliably... The MP5 was great in the 1980's but is obsolete.. especially in CA

Will the officers department sign off on the paperwork to buy a non CA approved edition?
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

By MP5 pistol do you mean SP89?
If so, HK has released their new HKSP5K. Not sure if his LEO credentials, plus maybe a department letter, will allow him to purchase it?

The new SP5K: the real deal.

Also, Zenith is an option. ( Turkey )

Out of state they are under $3000, so not that much more than a high end ar15 in reality.

Keep in mind that any gun purchased out of state is hundreds to thousands less than if purchased in California.

OP go with HK if you can. You can piece it together for probably close to $2500. A local owner when I lived in Maine last year was selling used for like $2200 and some change.

                Good luck!

I agree go with an actual HK is you can. Otherwise look for a MKE, probably the closest thing to an actual HK you can get, made on HK tooling but hard to find.

This guy says contact him if you are LEO

I wonder if we could get the SP5K converted to a rifle and sent here, how awesome would that be. A $4-5k semi auto MP5 is still better than the 4-5k sp89 or the 3k USC trash you see for sale here.

Buying if for his personal collection, all AW rules apply, he can not simply purchase it as an off roster gun and be good to go. There is no LE exemption to AW laws, unless he can get a letter signed by the department head to purchase one for duty use. Also needs to keep in mind the AG's opinion letter that AW purchased by individual officer's become the department property upon separation from the department. No actual law on this but I have heard of agencies that are following that opinion issued by Brown.

Where did I say it wouldn't be CA compliant or a AW?

                        Please stick to the question

Really? I think you know what he meant.. Just like when we say AR-15 everyone knows we're talking about a pattern firearm and not one from Armalite..

The best on the market is from Dakota Tactical.. closest you will get to a real HK

NO pistols will be easy for compliance, they will most likely have to be registered as an assault weapon.

Look here, lots of vendors and people saying which are good and which are junk.. trust me, some brands are a bit iffy.

Mine is by DJ Getz.. they were a small shop that turned out good weapons but had to close due to health problems.. LOVE shooting it, I have it set up featureless.
