500 rds would be more than enough, home defense ammo rarely gets used.

At cheaper prices?
Right now, SGAmmo is selling a 50rd box of Federal 147gr HST non +P for $25.95 (52 cents a rd).
18 months from now, will I be able to buy it cheaper? $20 a box ? $15 a box?
In any amount I want? a case? at my LGS ?Comment

Wal-mart, supply and demand will determine the price of ammo in California.Comment

At least 500,000 rounds for each weapon you own.OK, so buying specialty ammo is going to be a real ***** soon, with out-of-state and online sales being banned. So obviously I need to stockpile defensive ammo for my handguns and rifles. So what is an adequate-sized stockpile? I know the answer is, "As much as you can afford," but I'm looking for a number of rounds. I'm not talking about range or plinking ammo.
