    Interesting "gun control" proposal

I came across this and went into it assuming the worse but actually didn't think it was that bad. Curious what you guys think.

General idea is there are and will always be too many guns to confiscate so rather than trying to eliminate guns, require mandatory training (described as a state militia reserve of sorts).

On one hand, I take the second amendment as a right without any qualifications required. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind free training myself, and I wouldn't mind knowing the guy on the line next to me has been trained as well.

    Thoughts?

Nope. Not gonna buy this. We will be the ones who have to pay for some twatwaffel the libs designate to "teach" us what we already know and practice. Many folks already get "training" at private clubs, ranges and schools. Local "shoots" are already provided by the NRA and state associations like the CRPA and what's set up on the international front. We can make up our own minds on this and do not need any more government oversight and regulation into our goings on. I'd like to say this to the writer of the article you put a link to....Like Jack Nicholson once said: "Go sell stupid somewhere else-we're all full up here". Nothing is ever "free" when it comes to firearms regulation (or in this case, the "free" training you spoke of)- the good guy firearm owner always takes it in the shorts, both financially and legislatively.

Another way to price your rights out of reach.

Not mention all rules they will impose...like registration for weapons used in training, a nice little database of who has weapons.

Anything involving govt., they will find a way to control and regulate to the detriment of law abiding gun owners.

Just reinstate the draft. Automatic ccw upon separation, new oath takers.

Wouldn't that make anyone thinking about doing something even more proficient We didn't pay for those 9/11 guys to take flying lessons. The Saudis paid for that.

This is a no-go. Why should we take required training to exercise a right? Are reporters or voters expected to take mandatory training sessions? Besides, this wouldn't of helped in Orlando. The radical Islamist as highly trained, and highly documented.

Want to pass a law that makes things safer for everyone? Abolish gun free zones.

                        IMHO, bad idea all around.

It won't be anything that truly benefits the average law abiding gun owner...it will be all about more control and regulation by the already overreaching political elitists, under the guise of "safety".
