Think of it this way, the accident / negligence is putting your finger on the trigger when it shouldn't be, the thumb safety if engaged only prevents that accident / negligence from turning into a tragedy.

A negligent discharge is obvious, but an accidental one might be something like tripping over a rock while hunting, or reaching for a deeply concealed CCW piece under pressure and having your hand diverted / tangled by clothing or the attacker.

And by the way, I'm not saying people shouldn't buy Glocks, just backing up the opinion that they are to some degree more dangerous than guns without manual safeties. They definitely have their place though.

They are no more dangerous than any other modern firearm out there. Guns only go off when you intend them to. Pull the trigger even if you didn't want to, that is still your fault. Spike it on the concrete like you just scored the winning touchdown, still your fault. It is all about the person using the firearm.

Anyways, I handled this bad boy today. It is not my cup of tea. I have grown quite used to the standard Glock grip and the serrations are so-so. Basically, I would not trade in a standard Glock 22 for it. I like the feel of my Glock 35 and I wouldn't need to get this new Glock by any means.

It is something different, but not necessary.

I would still prefer a CCF titanium frame Model 19 receiver with the 1911 grip profile. How come nobody makes what I want?

I would argue that should you pull the trigger on two loaded guns, one being a Glock and the other being a cocked & locked 1911 the reaction of the Glock to said input would present a greater level of danger than the reaction of the 1911.

It's like telling a skydiver not to bother packing a reserve, because he should have packed his primary properly to begin with.

EDIT: To clarify my position, I will say that firearms safety is figuratively speaking %99 you, %1 equipment.

Glock is far and away the most sued handgun manufacturer; I'd be surprised if sooner or later they don't add a thumb safety.
99+% of the time what got caught in the trigger guard was their trigger finger.
The key word here is negligence I don't care how many safeties you put on a gun, If the shooter has his head up his *****, he's going to have an ND.
The statistic I would like to see is the number of ND's per models in circulation
If you have 500 ND's for every million Glocks vs 200 ND's for 100,000 Beretta's which is "safer"?
Saying that cops have more ND's with Glocks is disingenuous anyway. More cops carry Glocks than any other type of handgun.

Nothing wrong wioth the old slide serrations. This new style is just for looks which seems very unGLock-like as I always thought of them as designing their handgun based strictly on function. Looks exactly like a regular G22 with slight modifications. What I want is Gen 2 style grip with Gen 3 rail and upper. Single stack .45 full size with 8+1 capacity would be good too as someoneelse said.

Guess this means I'll have to buy me a sweet G22 before this crap hits the counters.

Oh, and when is that crappy microstamping BS supposed to happen? Seriously, I need to move out of Cali.
