Newb question from a newb

I'm sorry if I'm beating a dead horse, but...
Let's say you do have a LEO buddy or you do have immediate family in a free state, both of whom would be willing to buy the XDM and PPT it to you. Fine -- but you can't use it with the only mags available at this time, correct?? That is, until SA or somebody comes up with a 10-rd mag, you can own the gun but not the mags?? What's the point? Or is my pea brain missing something? Thanks for any help in understanding this.

Correct. You may take posession of the mags in DISASSEMBLED form, and put them back together as permanently-modified 10rd'ers. But you cannot take posession of the mags any other way, as that would be an illegal transfer of the mags.
